Victorian Inspired Ponytails At Charlotte Ronson Spring 2012: Backstage Beauty

THE INSPIRATION: 1920s Victorian style. Charlotte Ronson's spring collection was filled with long hemlines, sheer fabrics and denim print.

HAIR: TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist Jeanie Syfu styled strands into a Victorian-inspired ponytail to complement Ronson's not overdone aesthetic. She started with TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Root Boost to give fine hair a lift and worked with a one and a half inch curling iron to add a slight wave to random sections so that when gathered into a ponytail, it had movement. To mimic the essence of that era, Syfu created a deep, side-part, kept hair over the ears and let the ponytail hang low at the nape of the neck. "[Charlotte] likes all the fuzzy pieces around the face and the little piece that falls out in the front," she said. She secured the strands with elastics from the fabric store because they provide a tighter grip and set the "second-day ponytail" with TRESemmé Fresh Start dry shampoo.

MAKEUP: When perfecting the Ronson girl look (super effortless with a bit of grunge), Sephora PRO artist Gilbert Soliz reached for products from the designer's new makeup collection. He used the neutral brown shade from All Eye Need Eye Shadow Palette - Henrietta in the natural crease to create dimension. Black eyeliner was drawn into the roots and mascara layered on to build a wispy effect. Soliz brushed on 3 X A Charm Luminizer, Blush and Bronzer to the lower part of the apple. "I want the girls to look naturally flushed from within and not this polished to the temples look," he said. Brows were simply groomed with a brush. To finis, the makeup pro warmed up a rose lip color on the back of his hands before pressing into lips with his fingertips.

NAILS: Manicurist Fumiko of Sakura Nails and Spa in New York City buffed models finger and toenails into a square shape before polishing on two coats of Color Club Prêt-a-Pink.
