Stella McCartney: Style Evolution (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Stella McCartney, daughter of former Beatle Paul, was born into rock royalty. But Stella, who turns 40 today, has defined fashion royalty in her own right, thanks to her wonderfully wearable (and sustainable) line.

The Central Saint Martins grad interned for Christian Lacroix when she was just 15, and served as Chloé's creative director before launching her eponymous label -- beloved by the likes of Kate Moss, Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow.

In honor of the designer's big birthday, we're taking a closer look at her personal style throughout the years. Stella favors comfy-chic ensembles, such as expertly draped tunics with leggings, oversize trenches and jeans paired with statement toppers. And of course, she's also rocked some bold red-carpet frocks.

Tell us, which look is your favorite?

In response to a lot of the comments below - many of her designs are stunning. These photos don't showcase those well, but don't question her talent as a designer. Her name and dad's fame couldn't have failed to help her get a leg up, but her work is excellent.

A few of her clothes aren't that bad.No.5 isn't bad,no.12,no13 just needs a different colored belt but other that that it looks good,no.22 just needs some splash of color, plus the shoes she is wearing with these outfits are wrong.A lot of times the accessories makes the clothes.

Stella, you need to look in the full length mirror before leaving the house because your clothes are awful looking. If you designed those then you are making your money off being a designer because of your last name and your dad being loved (Beatles) by the whole world. A touch of class wouldn't hurt.

I'm not impressed by anything I've seen in these photos. She should have followed in the footsteps of her parents.

Is it just me or were all of these outfits drab, unflattering, colorless and ugly ?? She must be colorblind or something as I just don't see what her appeal is. Maybe it is just her name because my 10 yr old could design better clothing than her.

She's there because she has the name and clout.....

I think the outfits are ugly. Most of them look like clothes that are worn by homeless people.
