Backstage Beauty: Wind-Blown Hair & Silvery-Grey Eyes at 3.1 Phillip Lim

The inspiration: Geometry, athleticism and "the freedom and fragility of kites."
Makeup: NARS National makeup artist Francelle Daly created the silvery-metallic eye seen at 3.1 Phillip Lim by applying a mix of NARS Night Life Eyeshadow and Paris Duo Eyeshadow. "We started in the inner corner of the eye, then brought it across the crease, following the shape of the eyebrow," says Daly. She then added NARS Rue Bonaparte Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner to the lower lash line. Daly pressed NARS blush in Gaiety, a light pink, on to the lips. "The fragility of the soft glowing skin, with the hard, edgy eye," says Daly. "I didn't want to block out the entire eye, I thought that would be too heavy."
Hair: "Gone with the wind," according the Kerastase lead stylist Odile Gilbert. She created the wind-swept look by first prepping models hair with Kerastase Fibre Architectre. She then parted hair on the side, tying it in a low knot at the nape of the neck. Gilbert took three or four separate strands from the left side of the head, sweeping then behind the head, then securing them with pins. She finished the look with Kerastase Double Force hairspray.
Nails: The transparent pink color was based on a sheer pink raincoat from Lim's collection. Manicurists created the look by mixing CND Speedy Top Coat with a few drops of CND Raspberry Parfait.
