Lace designs were spotted on the Fall 2011 runways of Dolce & Gabbana, Elie Saab and Jason Wu, and hot young stars including Taylor Swift, Emma Watson and Kirsten Dunst have all posed on the red carpet in little black, lacy dresses.

With fall officially here, why not get our nails in on the sheer and sexy trend?

Our friends over at The Frisky tapped celebrity manicurist Elle, who's tended to the digits of Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively and Hilary Swank, for six simple steps to perfect this nail art:

1. Start with a clean nail
2. Brush on gel resin
3. Pick a thin Parisian piece of lace and attach
4. Spray with glue dry
5. Cut and shape using an embroidery scissor
6. Re-resin

When you're ready to slip off the lace cover-up, soak your nails in acetone.
