Lindsey Wixson, Lara Stone and Georgia May Jagger: Fashion's Gap Toothed Beauties

HuffPost Social Reading

What struck me most about Lindsey Wixson's latest video for The Telegraph is when the 17-year-old showstopper recalled her Wichita, Kansas childhood bullies, "I was really awkward, and I had a gap, a gap tooth, and girls would make fun of me."

Being a gap toothed girl, myself, I know the feeling, but Wixson's space case is one of her most endearing features. And she's not alone. Brigitte Bardot, Lara Stone, Georgia May Jagger, Jane Birkin and of course, Lauren Hutton are others who turned a mild imperfection into their beauty signature.

Check out our slideshow below for more gap toothed beauties:

Sorry, she looks like a vampire Miss Piggy. Gawd, look at those ham hock dimples, buck teeth, indented chin, and greasy face....too much in the flaw departement all at once. If you are a designer and just want to get attention, then Ugly is the new beautiful. Look at Donatella Versace for example.

For god sakes, half of them look like aliens, the author of this article must be blind. I know it sounds harsh, but not just anybody could be or should be a model. Lara Stone, for example, not only has a huge gap but her teeth are freakin brown, she probably chain smokes 5 packs of cigs a day. I have seen cracked addicted homeless people with better teeth, it's revolting. If you think that she wouldn't be more attractive with healthy white teeth and no gap, there is just something wrong with you, unless, maybe you have some kind of homeless girl fetish! Also, most of these models, actually, most of all models are just shapless, anorexically thin girls with young boy bodies. the standard should be somebody like Jessica Alba, who looks healthy, shapely and has an incredible complexion, not these unfortunate woman.

When I was 30 I called my mom and told her "I just want to thank you for getting me braces when I was a teenager."
After seeing these pictures, I'm even more grateful.

a natural lip skin is better for cleaning teeth,
use a color waxy lipstick is a bad for teeth that cause bad breath and ugly stain on teeth

Thank you so much for posting this, I love my gap, yeah it took me a while to feel secure about it, but I refuse to be judged by society's standard of beauty. People fail to realize it's not a matter how you look to society that makes you beautiful, it's how you carry yourself and the inner confidence that goes with it. It's sad but some the most beautiful people in the world have the worst personalities, because they're so vain and their beauty is sometimes the only way they feel worthy to the world. I'm in no way trying to say that everybody with a gap in their teeth is beautiful, but I can say it's not the only feature that defines us!

some of those models in the spring fashion show that Lindsey was in, including her, weren't all that beautiful. I guess it's all a persons perception. they're prob models since they are tall and waif skinny. I wore braces 3 times and my 16 yr old daughter now has them. it's the best to have a great set of choppers!
