CustomMade Curator: Jet Engine Table (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

We've seen tables made from space-age metals to tree stumps, but we can't say we've ever seen one made from a jet engine. And that's exactly what this table is constructed from (OK, and a little glass as well). Made by CustomMade artisan Alex Henderson of Monumental Fabrication of America, the table is a testament to the stylistic power of creative reuse.

Made of reclaimed steel jet engine exhaust pipes, this 18"-tall table is topped with clear glass...the better to see the exhaust's sculptural form.

Its made of garbage! No one wants to say it. Recycling is re-using garbage. Being non-wastful if different than re-inventing nonnecessary uses for garbage in order to be a hero recycler. How about we just stop buying things like bottled water (use tap), etc. I know someone who bragged about filling up his recycle bin instead of the garbage bin. I said, "hey, how about you just buy less plastic stuff so you wont have to fill up that can weekly" . .

The jet engine fan is interesting, but for that piece of glass I would do a curved piece in black walnut....Al-

Don't yu mean that the table is made from A PIECE of a jet engine? I would think that a JET ENGINE would be much, much bigger than what you are showing. More apt for a dining room table, than a coffee table. Let's be real, people!!!!!

Depends on the size of the piece (yes, piece). Be real, yourself. Find a web site showing disassembled jet engines.

Yea, and maybe they could sit on the plane's tires around the table. Not!

Interesting use of component parts. Seems like there could be a balance issue. The water feature and railing are amazeballs!
