Maybelline Baby Lips: Beauty Lab

I have a confession: Underneath my perfectly, painted red pout I'm concealing chapped lips.

Over the years, I've mastered a routine to target the dryness which includes exfoliating using a toothbrush and moisturizing with a bevy of lip balms. When I made the switch to wearing a matte lipstick, I nearly gave up bold lips altogether because of the magnified cracked lines.

But thanks to Maybelline Baby Lips, my faith in a good moisturizer has been restored.

The brand's new repairing lip balms come in cute and colorful packaging and are available in six shades: two clear (Quenched and Peppermint) and four tinted (Cherry Me, Pink Punch, Grape Vine and Peach Kiss). They're formulated with SPF 20, vitamins C and E, shea butter (a staple in my beauty closet), aloe, camphor and centalla -- a botanical plant found in India, Sri Lanka, Australia and other parts of Asia that works to improve lip coloration and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

These small gems have remained in heavy rotation since they ended up on my desk a month ago. My boyfriend can vouch that my lips are noticeably softer since starting my mornings with Peppermint, and when I do choose to go bare, Peach Kiss gives my pucker a delicate pink wash of color. Goodbye dry lips!

Maybelline Baby Lips, $3.99, available at mass retailers.
