Audrey Hepburn's Enduring Influence On Today's Stars (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and few style icons have inspired more imitators than Audrey Hepburn.

As LIFE.com observes, many of today's chicest celebs have cribbed her well-chronicled looks. Whether it's Zooey Deschanel pairing a belted skirt with a button-down à la one of Audrey's Roman Holiday ensembles, or Liv Tyler rocking a French twist with bangs, Hepburn's influence is hard to ignore.

LIFE.com has rounded up some of the most striking examples of today's trendsetters channeling the actress's timeless elegance. Click here to read the full story and see more of LIFE.com's amazing Audrey archives here: Audrey Hepburn at Her Most Stunning, Audrey Hepburn’s Top Designer, and Audrey Hepburn’s Big Oscar Night.

Does Erin Clements actually believe that today's celebrities purposely dress like Audrey Hepburn? Does she believe that today's designers create their fashions to look like clothes Audrey Hepburn wore? I can see it now: Oh! Look at that dress! It looks like one Audrey Hepburn wore. How ridiculous! Erin Clements has stretched her credibility and her imagination with this fluff piece. Any similarity between the clothes worn by Audrey Hepburn and those worn by today's stars lies wholly in the mind of Erin Clements.

Those were the days of great stars. Very well groomed, ethics, etiquette played a big part of them becoming stars. Back then both men and women stars wouldn't dare dress down inside and outside their homes. I can not , in this era, point out that one that says WOW. I am not from that era, I am only 52years of age. I watch alot of movies of the past and dream. That had always been my dream. To be a Fred Astair, Gene Kelly-actors of that sort. Remembering that Ms. Hepburn dieing of Cancer - I recall that my mother dieing of Bone Cancer as well back in 1990 she was only 57 years of age.

Never thought Audrey Hepburn was attractive nor a style icon. Apparently a lot people saw something I couldn't see.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as the saying goes. When I look at some of the people today, who are touted to be so beautiful, often I just don't see it.........some I can, others I can't, at all. I think that perhaps there is sort of a "classic" type beauty, that almost everyone will find beautiful...........I'd give Grace Kelly as an example. Aside from that sculpted type of perfection though, I find that sometimes what might be considered as "flaws" in a face, might actually lend more beauty to the face. I thought that Audrey Hepburn had gorgeous high cheek bones, and that other non-classical types of perfection, sometimes add to beauty.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and perception of what they find to be attractive............just sometimes, things can be a bit more "universal"...........ie what almost all will find to good looking.

I Think Calista Flockhart could play Audry very well with died hair. 2nd choice would be Wynona Rider.

Halle Berry comes to mind. When Halle's hair was very short it emphasized her beautiful long neck, much like Audrey Hepburn's.

Audrey Hepburn is truly a classic beauty. As mentioned, along with Jacqueline Kennedy, she was an exquisite beauty that cannot be replicated. However, those women always defined beauty and grace. They truly allowed themselves to be feminine while showing that women can be role models. Their beauty was not signified by how much skin they could show, but rather the way they executed style and etiquette.

I agree 100%!!!!!

George Arees, you hit it right on the spot. I believe that the stars of today are to made over. They should just be. I have done some acting, commercials and dance. But you know the importance, in this era, is sending all of these actors to get prepaired for the world to come. They have no ethics, etiquette, posture, etc. I was a bank officer for many years. You could take 400 bankers and ask them who had prepaired themselves like that; I was the only one.

The most recent and my favorite Hepburn homage, is Beyonce's new video, "Countdown". It's such a fun video full of Audrey attitude and attire! I♥ Beyonce! http://youtu.be/V9JlSvsItOo

Except for Hepburn's eye brows looking as if they on loan from Grocho Marx, she was a relatively attractive woman. Also her head seems a bit oversized atop that skinny body. The gallery seems to have forgotten Halle Berry, MSNBC's Tamron Hall, and CBS's "Early Show", Betty Nguyen. All -- great hair and body to match
05:57 PM on 10/10/2011
You missed the point of the photos. It's of those that emulate Hepburn, not just any women with "great hair and body"

I think Natalie Portman looks the most like Audrey. To me she has always been the Hepburn of today.

Katie Holmes has it.

...So was Mother Teresa, but she was no 'transcendant' beauty either
01:46 AM on 10/11/2011
Vanderbil, please do not start something you will not be able to finish. I am a Catholic and I have the grandest respect for Mother Teresa. Maybe I misunderstood what you are trying to say;but do not get Mother Teresa involved. She had glowing and inter-beauty that few will be honored to "Transend" Just like our wonderful JohnPaul II who just by seeing him had that special glow that no one has. (Remember we are talking about movie stars of an Era that was.)

ppswg is right on the money. Ms. Hepburn was a class act in every respect. Comments like that of "Huffpost Super User" are out of order, lacking any class what so ever. Mother Theresa was indeed beautiflul, giving person. But HSU has his head so far up his posterier, he wouldn't know true beauty from if it kicked him in the head. Actually, i think he may have been kicked in the head a number of times already.

The only chick that ever pulled off the Aubrey Hepburn look is Natalie Portman. Some of the others thrown in there are way off.

Definitely agree!!!
