Ellen DeGeneres And Portia De Rossi At Home In Architectural Digest (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Everyone's favorite dance-loving talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have opened up their home for all to see in Architectural Digest's latest November issue, which just hit newsstands.

According to the article, Ellen has a thing for houses and impulsively snatching up real estate. Says Ellen, "The first thing I did when I made money is buy a house, and then --" at which point Portia chimes in, "Another one and another one and another one and another one."

Given the sheer number of properties under their belts, it's no wonder that the happy couple has natural instincts when it comes to decorating and design. They own property in a tony town just north of Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast Highway, and Ellen is a frequent visitor at many of the home decor shops that sell Americana there.

What we love most about Ellen and Portia's Beverly Hills house is that it really reflects their casual, fun and stylish sensibility. The naturally lit rooms are not overly fussy, antiques are carefully placed alongside modern furnishings such as big, deep sofas and comfy armchairs, and an outdoor pond is left to do its own thing. And our absolute favorite area in the house? Ellen and Portia's shared wall of shoes, of course.

Beautiful home. A nice couple, too. Ellen has good taste in women. She went for what was opposite. Portia's feminine.

Beautiful Home! So comfortable and inviting. My kind of style. Nothing ostentatious or outrageous. Simple lines and very practical. Very much reflects Ellen's personality, warm, friendly, and very sweet!!

Nice house but not so much that it rates coverage in AD and on here. I don't get it, call me skeptical but I'm thinking some other "news" will follow soon.

Cool marvelous, stunning, and Ellen earned the money to pay for it. So why aren't there p[rotesters going to her home, demanding she pay more, hire more, do more for the country? Why are some categories of wealthy removed from the roles of those who have wealth are evil or unfair mentality?
05:41 PM on 10/12/2011
Elllen never took taxpayers money to pay for her homes . The Wall Street bankers took money from the government (our money) to bail themselves out of their schemes, and then spent it like drunken sailors on their more schemes and their lavish lifestyle, giving themselves million dollar bonuses with OUR money, and now the banks are charging us to have an account with them, and also refusing to loan money out for mortgages (our money). -- Do you see the difference? Hope so. The protestors are not protesting people who pay their own way and work for their own money...they are protesting these parasites leeches, and corporate master lobbyists to the republican congress.

In all the years of my living, I have come to find that a lot of times money doesn't really matter. You can find a poor person with a lovely home and a rich person with a trashy home. I don't think a good home is based on being rich, a good home is based on talent and having the ability to design. You either have good designing ideas or you don't. I like some of Ellen's designs but I don't like that big picture that looks like a billboard on the wall, that just looks trashy and messy. It really just boils down to good taste and the ability to see and copy a good design or to come up with your own good designs.

Big Deal. It's just a house.

So Ellen is the "man" in this relationship, I surmise? Bwahaahaha
04:19 PM on 10/12/2011
There is no "man" - hence the lesbian thing...

Typical ignorant comment------there doesn't need to be a "man" thus the reason why it's a lesbian relationship.

But who "pitches" and who "catches"? Bwaahahahahaha. LOL.

It says the home has a lot going for it. To bad it has to put up with these two creatures living in it.
01:43 PM on 10/12/2011
i am prorights as much as anyone but do you have other stories to write about hp??? there are straight people still you know.... your material has become redundant.
01:41 PM on 10/12/2011
moderator, that was not abusive, foul or offensive... i was just pointing out a matter of fact... please do not block it..
01:40 PM on 10/12/2011
enough already folks! ok, ok, ok.... there are homosexuals in our society... enough with the bombardment of gay stories.. i agree, they have a right to run their lives how they want but three gay stories per day??? wtf?? is there anything else happening in the world???
02:04 PM on 10/12/2011
True enough. The MSM and entertainment world are ramming it down our throats.
02:34 PM on 10/12/2011
Oh yeah because over 50+ years of people telling us homophobia is "unnatural" was not ramming it down our throats.
How ignorant of you.
02:28 PM on 10/12/2011
Excuse me? A "GAY" story? Lets see how many stories regarding "straight" people there are in the world day in and day out. Yet you say this comment isn't "foul or offensive." The fact that you are still regarding a story as a "gay" story is in fact offensive. Because you know, it is just a story. No one categorizes stories on heterosexual couples as a "straight" story. So what gives you the right to categorize a story on a homosexual couple as a "gay" story. How ignorant of you. IT'S JUST A STORY. Not a "straight" nor "gay" one. You don't see homosexuals commenting on Kim Kardashian's wedding saying, "OMG another straight marriage. Is there anything else going on in the world?! How TYPICAL and REDUNDANT is a story on a straight couple." And I don't see you clicking on THAT article stating how there "has to be something else happening in the world."
YOU are the one that chose to click on this article. If it is not interest to you, then don't read it. And leave your very offensive opinions to yourself.
