Joan Rivers Models In W Magazine's Meisel Editorial "Fabulous Fakes" (PHOTOS)

In W Magazine's October issue, Steven Meisel and Edward Enninful collaborated on a hilarious editorial. The pair shot and styled icons such as Linda Evangelista, Karen Elson and even Anna Dello Russo in a series of faux-advertisements for invented products such as a fragrance "Petra" (modeled by heiress Petra Ecclestone) and a children's label titled "Pizzazz" (starring "Toddlers & Tiaras" Eden Wood).

Personality Joan Rivers models real fur for a faux campaign alongside Dennis Basso, inspired by the Blackglama's ads of yesteryear. What do the rest of the ads remind you of?

Check out the full editorial below:

It's not just Joan who's been photo-shopped. I would venture that every person in every photograph in this collections has been touched up to a great degree.

When Johnny Carson asked Dolly Parton if her photograph for the Playboy cover had been airbrushed she said, "Airbrushed?! It was blow-torched!" I think the same applies here.

OMG, they made Joan look beautiful! Super airbrushed and transformed. Where has that soaked formaldehyde face look gone?

Anyone that wears real fur should be made to watch video of fur farm practices prior to making their purchase. What a sick, disgusting trade. Shame on you Joan. Not funny at all.

Ya know I hear this same question posed all the time when people say they are against animal related plights. It is a grossly negligent assumption to equate disdain for things e.g. fur farms, puppy mills, dolphin slaughter, over fishing, habitat loss, animal abuse and a myriad of other non-human atrocities, with NOT caring about human suffering and death. It's as if some feel that you can only be anti one OR the other and not both. That could not be further from the truth. I truly wish people would come to understand that and not throw the "what about human suffering" into the equation. Abuse, suffering, death, pollution, atrocities, war, tyranny, famine...they are all horrible. The fact that someone expresses disgust for fur farms does not equate to not caring about humans. *sigh* I'm sorry but I get this all the time and it's just very frustrating to have to keep explaining over and over again. The fact of the matter is that I donate to all kinds of charities spanning the gamut of life on this planet. It just so happens that I am particularly abhorred with the fur trade. It's vile and cruel to say the very least.

Are you personally acquainted with Ms. Rivers? Probably not. You should watch "Joan Rivers-A Piece of Work" and see if you still feel the same way.

She doesn't look like that. She has the Phantom of the Opera nose. Photoshop is alive and well working on her face. And one trick that is employed constantly with aging stars is over-lighting. Blast the face with high wattage and wrinkles are magically gone. Takes away wrinkles, lines and features.

Well, since the theme here seems to be things that are not real, I believe they have captured the subject beyond the original intent.
