Burberry Beauty Debuts At Saks Fifth Avenue: An Inside Look At The Fall 2011 Makeup Collection
Burberry has a storied following, thanks to their chic trench coats that add a perfect finishing touch to rainy day ensembles, and now the British luxury brand is set to make a bigger splash with its beauty line.
Last summer, Burberry debuted a cosmetics collection exclusively on nordstrom.com and in select Nordstrom stores on the West Coast. Well, Burberry beauty has finally landed in The Big Apple with its first and only beauty counter at Saks Fifth Avenue.
I had to explore Burberry's new digs with an intimate tour led by John Trau, makeup guru and Interparfums director of education. Enclosed by a cream wall embossed with the brand's signature check pattern and adorned in large posters of the Fall 2011 ad campaigns, they've certainly nailed signature chic. Trau re-introduced me to the richly-pigmented lipsticks, glosses, eye shadows and blushes held snugly in shiny, black cases before unveiling the latest beauty offerings, which he described as "stormy weather makeup."
The combination of cool gray and brown eye shadows, shimmering gold and blush tones, hydrating and lightweight formula of vitamin E and Wild Rose extract, and silky finish made for a mesmerizing fall lineup. Trau recommended I apply the Fresh Glow moisturizer with just a few drops of the soon-to-be-released Sheer Foundation that matches (it really does!) my chocolate complexion, Sheer Eye Shadows in Midnight Brown No.21 and Midnight Plum No.19 and Lip Cover in Nude Cashmere No.26.
Now this is one storm I want to be a part of!
