Celebrity Beauty Marks: A Tribute To Marilyn Monroe (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Michelle Williams' striking turn as Marilyn Monroe in "My Week With Marilyn" made us reflect on the multitude of personalities we've seen channel the iconic blond bombshell over the years.

Our thoughts then turned to the celebs who bear one of Marilyn's most distinctive features (well, aside from her sexy platinum locks): her come-hither beauty mark, which has long been a glamorous signature for actresses, models and pop stars alike.

We've rounded up some of our favorites, including Cindy Crawford, Eva Mendes and Angelina Jolie (though some, like Cindy and Sarah Jessica Parker, have since opted to remove theirs). Click through our gallery to see who else we've spotted.

As a man I'd like to know what exactly causes a spot on a woman's face to be considered a "come-hither beauty mark", as stated in this article, or "seductive" as stated in the caption for this article on the AOL home page. Be it a birth mark, a mole, or a "beauty mark", it's just a spot on the face. Tons of people have them, both female and male. I don't get it.

Ok... ordinarily I don't think it's appropriate to mention race...but clearly these days women of color are being overlooked in favor of the Almighty BLONDE...My own less than famous spot not withstanding ....why else would you forget Janet Jackson's and Tandie Newton's famous spots. Ahhg ...exasperating!~

What about Marilyn's party buddy and friend--Dorothy Dandridge!?! She had three!!!

I agree with most of these blogs, those marks are hideous and gross as the women who wear those ugly piercings on their faces. Madonna appears to be rid of hers,Carnie Wilson and Janine Turner got rid of theirs. Ladies please follow suit, they're much too distracting. I would tell Liz Taylor,Marilyn Monroe,Anne Francis, and Anna Nicole Smith but neither left forwarding addresses.

What about Shanae Grimes?? She has one right above her eye.........

Sure that was not a really big zit on Sarah Jessica Parker? And what exactly is a beauty mark? A mole, black-head, never popped zit, or just an unkown misc.
