The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze 2011: 4,000 Carved Pumpkins (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

What do you get when you combine 4,000 pumpkins, more than 1,000 volunteers and a small team of artists led by Van Cortlandt Manor Creative Director Michael Natiello? The Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze of Hudson Valley, New York. This incredible art installation turns thousands of pumpkins into amazing conceptual arrangements, anything from an undersea aquarium to life-sized dinosaurs and a pirates cove. Professional lighting and a spooky soundscape of original music turn the event into an all-senses immersion. And, believe it or not, every single one of these pumpkins is hand-carved by a group of 14 artisans!

If you live in the Tri-State area, the event runs through November 6th and you can find more information here.

With so much of the world facing hunger, doesn't it bother anyone to see food used for fun?

You have a valid point. But, what about Kim Kookoobird spending 10 million on a wedding and then getting a divorce 72 days later. Now, THAT is a waste of money that could have been used to feed hungry, homeless people.
