Anna Wintour: Style Evolution (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Anna Wintour's personal style has always been polished and ladylike, and the Vogue editor has only become more refined over the years.

In honor of Wintour's 62nd birthday Thursday, we're taking a closer look at her covetable statement pieces. In addition to her signature sunglasses, Anna's known to embrace smart tweeds, printed frocks and luxe toppers. (As she observed in "The September Issue," "There is always a way to wear fur.")

Great pics by you have posted. i had viewed your all pic. Really i like your all pic you look in so beautiful in black jacket. i like your all dresses. The fashion industry seems to have turned its back on women who are forty and older, churning out collections that have nothing to do with careers or sophisticated living

So what you're saying, according to these photos, is that there's been no evolution. She's had the same hairstyle and outfits for over 20 years!!!

She really has a horrible sense of style when u look at it closely

The editors of Vogue, Bazaar, Elle, etc. have total influence on women from haute couture right down to bargain discount stores. The cut and style of your jeans (hi-rise, low-rise, straight cut, boot cut, etc.) slacks, suits, dresses, all tops, favrics, shoes, boots, jewelry etc. are originated by designers and submitted to the top fashion magazines where they are then decided upon by people like Anna Winatour. When these items shake down to the mass market (or when they are knocked off by companies that do not originate style) they are blindly (and avidly) purchased by consumers who sneer at the originators. If you want to avoid any influence by people like Anna Winatour, then how about wearing burlap with arm holes cut in it.....and perhaps a rope for a belt?

Happy Birthday to an out of date, socially irresponsible mogul who not only epitomizes all that is WRONG with fashion these days..but who's dictatorship reign is legendary for all those to see. I can't wait for people like her to die so fashion can be more socially responsible and accessible to all, not just the privileged she dines with.
She is a relic of a time, no one remembers or cares to embrace...younger woman today don't want to be anorexic or wear fur..wake up Anna, welcome to 2011

Is it just me or does she come across as a "B"? maybe its the look on her face!
01:28 PM on 11/03/2011
Even with all her money she is still unattractive. And I thought fur went out with the cavemen days, to wear fur in this day and age is inhumane and thoughtless.

I agree. Fashion has suffered with the loss of creativity when AIDS came to the scene.
As for Anna? Too much poof around the neck, cuts into her hair and neck.
Posture needs improvement and the leg pose needs help as well.

I love her style. She looks great!!!

Whether anyone wants to accept this or not.......women are very much influenced by the editors of Vogue, Bazaar, Elle, etc. The cut and style of the jeans you buy, (high rise, low rise, etc) coats, slacks, dresses, suits, shoes and boots is directly determined by the designers and creators of fashion as submitted to high end fashion publications and approved by someone like Anna Winatour. By the time it shakes down to the mass market it is avidly purchased by consumers who sneer at the originators. The only way to avoid someone like Winatour having any influence in you life is to wear something like a burlap bag with arm holes.

what has she done? I agree she is in need of a real stylist if there is such a person I have sen several of them and question their taste. My real comment is how old are you people who are writting these articles? DO YOU NOT KNOW WHEN VOGUE WAS GREAT? WAKEUP, DOES THE NAME VREELAND RING A BELL?
12:24 PM on 11/03/2011
Diana Vreeland was a legendary inovator and prior to her death I enjoyed all her exhibits at the Met Museum's Costume Institute. However, Vreeland was an eccentric.......from her own wardrobe over all, to her red on red on red apartment. I admired her brains and vision more than I did her personal style. In spite of what she did opt for herself as a general rule, she did promote Chanel, Dior, Balenciaga, etc. Anna Winatour is not an eccentric. Her personal style come right off the pages of the magazine she edits.

For a woman who has made a career out of telling other women how to dress, she certainly does not know how to dress herself. I saw a few outfits in that gallery that looked ok, but most of them just did not work and a few were downright awful.

They pretty much look the same to me (and her shoes ARE the same)! I love it - don't really have to change much in 20 years.THAT is responsible consumerism.

Anyone else tired of seeing this idiotic poseur?
10:00 AM on 11/03/2011
Yes, there IS always a way to wear fur...leave it on the poor defenseless animal. What a stupid horrible thing to say and do.

light hair color makes her look older
