Christian Louboutin and Blake Lively Talk Shoes (PHOTOS)

Red soles and famous faces such as Blake Lively, Calvin Klein, Elettra Weidemann, Tyrese Gibson and Taylor Tomasi-Hill were on hand at Christian Louboutin’s 20th anniversary book launch party Tuesday night. Guests noshed on tuna tartare and banana cream pie while flipping through the designer's first book, "Christian Louboutin,” a 304-page tome with a behind-the-scenes look at the his creations and studios.
Louboutin explained his recent comparison of high heels to female orgasms, “When you are on a very high heel, the position of your arch is the same for many people who have an orgasm -- men included!”
Since Louboutin makes so many beautiful shoes, we had to ask him to narrow it down to five (okay, he actually named six) essential shoes for women: “A pair of black, high-heeled pumps. Then a peep-toe or sandal, depending on where you live, and are exactly the same color of your skin, so it completely vanishes. Probably a pair of flat boots. Definitely a pair of Havaiana flip-flops. And then the fifth one would be a good pair of sneakers, so she can exercise, even though I don’t consider it [the sneaker] a shoe. But if we wouldn’t say a sneaker, then I would say something completely crazy that she should probably wear only one time, but would stay in her wardrobe as an object of desire.”
Lively, in a Dolce & Gabbana ensemble, Valentino coat and Louboutin heels, explained her favorite shoes differently, “That’s like asking a mother who their favorite child is! I love them all.”
Lively and her Gossip Girl alter ego, Serena van der Woodsen, are both rarely seen without heels, but if she were stranded on an island, that’s a different story. “That’s complicated because you can’t wear heels in sand, so I would ask Christian to design a custom shoe for me.” Can you read our jealousy?
Louboutin certainly counts Lively as a favorite client and literally carried her after the event, but who else would he love to design shoes for? The Queen of England, naturally. “The Duchess is beautiful, but I would not dream of it -- she is just a woman. The Queen of England, she is more than a woman -- she is a complete symbol. It would be a challenge to do something for someone who is a total representation of a symbol. Kate Middleton is beautiful, wonderful and all, but she’s not a symbol. She’s a completely regular, normal and very beautiful human.”
