Ellen Pompeo: Style Evolution (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Unfortunately, Ellen Pompeo’s character as Dr. Meredith Grey on “Grey’s Anatomy” is always in unflattering scrubs, but the brunette manages to glam it up on the red carpet. The Irish and Italian actress cuts a svelte silhouette in wide-leg pants, plunging necklines, floor-length gowns and even jumpsuits.

Pompeo celebrates her 42nd birthday this Thursday with her husband Chris Ivery and daughter Stella Luna (probably sans cake, just look at her figure!), so check out the gallery below for her best red carpet outfits.

And have a look through our many other Style Evolutions here.

May 2005, the green dress. That's the best one, though a few others come close.

I have to say I am shocked by the cruelty of some of the comments on this thread. I think that Ellen Pompeo is a decent actress, and a nice-looking woman. Some of her outfits are pretty, some not. One of the best things I can say about her is that in spite of the fact that she's been on a popular show for seven years, I know next to nothing about her personal life. Now that Katherine Heigl is gone, she and the rest of the cast of Grey's Anatomy seem to be more focused on being actors rather than celebrities and tabloid fodder. I respect that.

This stylist describes Pompeo as a brunette? I'd say that in these photos her hair is usually in the blonde range.

Absultely nothing to offer. I have never been able to understand how this under weight, lisping woman with no talent has a t.v.contract.

I just noticed she does have a pretty long torso. She hides it well in most clothes but picks the wrong thing sometimes, as shown in the pics.

Wayyy too thin! Where's her womanly curves? No but, no hips. Who likes this?

I'll give her a thumbs up, just because she doesn't pose with her legs crossed like most vanity "stars" do.

She had no boobs. A see-through on her is like entering the boy's showers at a Jr. High. But, then, stylists are either frumpy females or gay men, so what would they know? Maybe they like looking at jr High boys, topless.

Pompeo has a speech impediment and is not at all attractive. She must have one heck of an agent.

I'd do her

Thin is okay but she's gaunt and that's not pretty.

Who dresses her? Yikes, awful...

The more I look at some of these photos, the more I realize that you can't buy class. You either have it or you don't. You can put $$$ of clothes on some of these people and they still look like trash. Some look stunning, but they would look stunning if they shopped at The Salvation Army charity store.....Because they have class.
