As a curly hair girl, no other celebrity has inspired me to love what I've got on top more than Diana Ross. The 67-year-old, Detroit-born singer may have donned beehive wigs as frontwoman of The Supremes, but it is her unapologetic curls that made her truly stand out.

"When you think of Diana Ross, you think of big, bold and wild hair, but still stylish and sexy," says Avon Global Stylist Advisor Tippi Shorter, who has styled Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Lauryn Hill. "Big hair never went away. It got bigger in the '80s, angular in the '90s, polished in 2000 and textured and stylized today."

"Her looks have always inspired me, especially when doing shows with my clients," says Shorter. "When it’s one person on a large stage in front of thousands of people, the hair is one of the silhouettes that can be seen from far, so it must make a statement."

Ross' big body curls have re-emerged on hot young singers such as Rihanna, Solange Knowles and Corrine Bailey Rae.

"I love to create that volume with heated curlers and a brushable hairspray," says Shorter. "Grab 1-inch sections of clean dry hair and spritz with spray. Wrap hair in roller and repeat across entire head. Let sit for 10 minutes and then remove rollers. Add a few drops of serum to your hands, flip head over and run hands through hair to loosen curls. Now you’re ready for your Diana 'do!"

Shorter believes using products that specifically promote healthy hair is also key. "Advance Techniques Damage Repair 3D Rescue Leave-In Treatment instantly repairs three types of damage: chemical, thermal and mechanical. It targets hair’s most damaged areas -- strengthening the strand’s structure, mending split ends and nourishing locks from within."

And fine-haired ladies can pump up the volume, too. The celebrity stylist recommends starting in the shower with wet hair products like Avon Advance Techniques Root Boosting Tonic or Volumizing Gel Spray to achieve fullness.

What do you think of Diana Ross’ legendary curls?

The word iconic is used way too much to describe too many undeserving people, ect. Now Diana Ross hairstyle is considered 'iconic." Who cares about this hairstyle or the word iconic for that matter.

Diana Ross is one of the only woman I know that truly looks more beautiful with age.
(other than my wife, of course... )

In many ways, I even think she looks not only better- but younger!....
And, in case you haven't been paying attention- she can still sing!

Yes, she truly is the queen of soul and carries the entire package!

Well said Hj. Diana Ross was/is the most beautiful women I have ever seen, and has the voice of an angel.

The first picture, of the collection of photos of Miss Ross, was not taking in 1960.

I think I must agree with you.

I agree, that was not taken in 1960. I saw Diana and the Supremes in 1960 at St. Joseph's College in Philadelphia. She had on a blunt short wig and looked adorable. By herself or with the Supremes, I just love her!!!

Diana Ross was asked bluntly by Oprah if that was her hair, and Diana didn't seem to appreciate the question, but she admitted that she always wore WIGS and was still wearing them. So all that hair was not her hair. It was always a wig. But, she was a great singer back then.

I saw that Oprah show and still have it on my DVR. Oprah asked about the different hair styles that she and the Supremes wore back then. Diana graciously answered and was not offended by Oprah's question. Please don't be so obviously mean and bias in your comments about Ms. Ross. She's never hidden the fact that she wore wigs, hair pieces and extensions.

I like all the football players who have copied her hairstyle. I especially like the way they toss and shake it when they get a touchdown.

Open up the gates and the sun in! Diana IS a national treasure! She was beautiful then - still the only ROCK-STAR that ever lived -- other than MJ.

The pic from May of this year is very good and very age appropriate though not very realistic considering she is in her late 60's or 70's. She's not showing any gray hair! She looks good for her age. In many of the other pics her hair looked witchy, unruly and out of control and even sometimes like she had fallen victim to a lousy perm or hair stylist.

The pic from May of this year is very good; very age appropriate, too, though not realistic considering the fact that she is well into her 60's or 70's and still hides her grays. She still looks good, though.

I always thought Diana Ross had beautiful hair...I don't know if it is really her hair or a wig...
07:10 PM on 11/18/2011
She said in a TV interview that it was always wigs. They were probably very expensive and good wigs.
