Now that it's getting colder, we somehow feel justified dialing up the glamour with our makeup, especially in the evening. We've enlisted Jemma Kidd, founder of Jemma Kidd Makeup, to reveal her tricks for a stunning nighttime look. Since we're most interested in focusing on the eyes, Kidd showed us how to master a smudgy, smoky eye (with a slight, winged-out shape) that manages to feel both sexy and cool.

Check out the how-to video, which features Lily Mandelbaum of Stylelikeu. Then click through the gallery for more dramatic eye makeup inspiration.

Interesting video. BUT, the model needs her brows plucked a little. Too many hairs below her brow makeup. Looks strange.

Way too much makeup for someone who does not need it. All that dark eyeshadow looks like a TB patient

THE RIGHT WAY SOUNDS LIKE IT IS THE ONE AND ONLY WAY. DIFFERENT WOMEN HAVE DIFFERENT APPEARANCES AND THOSE APPEARANCES HAVE DIFFERENT NEEDS SOME MORE MAKE UP SOME LESS AND SOME IN THE MIDDLE. BUT DON'T SAY THE RIGHT WAY IT MAKES IT SOUND LIKE IF YOU DON'T DO IT THAT ONE WAY THEN A WOMAN DOESN'T LOOK GOOD.

OK, first, Jemma Kidd could use a little fresh makeup herself.

Second, she should have put the foundation on FIRST, instead of having to leave a space between the foundation and the eye makeup she just put on....it looks stupid.

Third, WAY too much makeup on the eyes, and what's up with all the false eyelash stuff lately? this girl has great natural eyelashes, a little mascara would have been just fine.

I don't know who this makeup chick is, but I wouldn't have her do my makeup. The girl looked better before than after.

You probably like a full bush too

That was my first comment! The model needed some touch-up on her brows -- too many hairs under the brow.
07:27 PM on 11/20/2011
NO!!!! WHO IN THE HECK SAID THERE IS A RIGHT WAY TO DO EVENING MAKE UP. A WOMAN CAN WEAR HER MAKE-UP ANY WAY SHE WANTS TO. WOMEN CAN DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES THE WAY THEY CHOOSE TO WEAR THEIR MAKE-UP. THERE IS NO RIGHT WAY!!! THAT SOUNDS LIKE STUPID GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRACY!!!!

Ah.....OK, although I understand what you are saying, I have seen women go out looking like hookers, raccoons, and scarey freaks, and thinking they look great. So, although there is no "right way" or "wrong way" to wear your makeup, I think some women out there could use a little help.

Make it a great day!

Way too much! The girl doesn't need to look like a hooker.

I love how some people will watch a make up tutorial only to comment on how the world would be better if women didn't wear make up. Jeesh, get over it, make up is part of what makes women look good. Admit it, when us girls go out to get makeovers one of the first things we do is change our makeup, hair, and outfits and you know what: WE LOOK GOOD! :)

That gorgeous honey doesn't need any makeup. It does highlight the eyes a little bit, but honor the natural woman! Dont deface the one God gave you. Too often they end up looking like a clown or someone possessed, with black and blue eyes, etc.
01:38 PM on 11/20/2011
Is it just me or did she actually glue the false eyelashes on top her real lashes???? Instead of her base eyelids. WOW! I didn't like this look at all - the youtube Gurus do much better makeup than this.
09:24 PM on 11/20/2011
Yes, I was thinking the same thing about the lashes. And..wondering how this poor girl is going to remove those false lashes from own lashes. Good luck, kiddo!
01:09 PM on 11/20/2011
The model needs her brows waxed, the eye makeup didn't do anything for her eyes. Personally, she looked better before b/c the make up made her look pale and pasty and the eyes looked dead.
01:05 PM on 11/20/2011
Goodness, she made that gal so pale. She needs a touch more blush..maybe some shimmery powder too. The eyebrows need to be trimmed also.

Focusing on the eyes isn't all there is to it. Unless the eyes are done to match the rest of the face's makeup, you could end up looking like a mutant raccoon even with the most expertly applied eye makeup.

My thoughts exactly!

Dark Lesson
12:24 PM on 11/20/2011
Rather boring, to be honest. And under bright artificial lights (you know, the usual, when you GO OUT IN THE EVENING) will make her look like a vampire or a raccoon, what with almost totally lacking colour on her face and mouth.
12:05 PM on 11/20/2011
That girl needs a SERIOUS eyebrow waxing!
And, in my opinion, that makeup is WAY too dark. Plus, all that foundation is bad for the skin!
01:11 PM on 11/20/2011
I don't think she needed that pale foundation either! Oh, and yea, that model need a good wax.
