Best Motorcycle Boots: The Stylelist 7 (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

I have more pairs of tall, flat equestrian-style riding boots than worth mentioning. Yes, they are chic, yes, they are great for tucking in my skinny jeans, but they are a little tired. Earlier this fall I was perusing the wares at Madewell when I came across the coolest motorcycle boots. Kinda clunky, kinda rock 'n' roll, totally cool. They are my everyday staple--I wear them with jeans, tights and skirts, you name it, I'm wearing them. The best part is that now they are pretty beat up (thanks to endless wearing), giving them that "Oh-these-old-things?-I've-had-them-forever" look. Check out our picks for the seven best pairs of motorcycle boots below.

Great stuff for people who want to LOOK like they ride...but don't.

on the boots;; only a woman would buy such stupid boots for motorcycle riding...cowboy boots would have been better...the first thing that you need in a working motorcycle boot is being sturdy and repairable and confortable...you do not worry about the weight of the boot...the second thing that you need is highth,,you want the boot to be as tall as possible...if you are wearing boot cut jeans or if you are wearing skinny jeans,,it doesen't matter,,the idea is protection of your lower legs..this is a good idea for the boys and the girls...do not let "STYLE' hurt you..some people wear moto-cross boots and shin guards,, and this is also a very good idea...

My favorite boots are my H-D boots called "After the Ride". Sexy-looking, cowgirl-style, and built for the ride and thereafter. Got them about 7 years ago and, unfortunately, haven't had much riding reason to wear them. But, they look GREAT, feel GREAT, and, if I ever get another opportunity, they'll be my first and only choice to wear on the back of that chrome horse! These boots (except the H-D's) aren't worth the time advertising them as "riding" boots. They only thing you're paying for is the designer's name.

I ride either in my reliable old Harley-Davidson boots or an old pair of ankle/calf-high snow boots. They're sturdy, safe, strong, and have lasted almost fifteen years of abuse and held up great.
Never EVER buy motorcycle boots from a company that specializes in "fashion". Riding gear is safety/practicality FIRST. Real bike duds are always.

When did you start wearing women's boots? LMAO!

Am I aloud to post about Motorcycle boots?

I have a Harley and I have two pairs of boots that I wear when I ride. Sometimes I wear a pair of leather cowboy boots that I bought in Tennessee. My preferred pair of motorcycle boots that I wear most often is a pair of U.S. Army issued jump boots that my dad wore in the Army. They are more durable and as stylish (if not more stylish) as any of the over-priced boots shown in this article.

I'm in the same shoes as other motorcyclists, so to speak. It's kind of like a "motorcycle jacket" that is made of very thin leather or vinyl, with little or no protection offered, no ability to stretch your arms to actually be able to control the bike, sleeves that ride up your arms, etc.
I guess it's the same thing as a ski jacket, baseball cap, cowboy hat, golf shirt, polo shirt, rugby shirt, football jersey, carpenter's pants, aviator glasses, diver's watch, equestrian boots, construction work boots, cowboy boots, engineer boots, hiking boots, tennis shoes, running shoes, boat shoes, or many other things that are worn by people who don't actually perform those jobs or activities. Lots of people just want to look like somebody they aren't.

Having been a motorcyclist for some 30+ years now, I have to ask if any of these boots, other than the Harley boots, are actually built to take the rigors of everyday motorcycle riding. Will they provide real protection in the event of a crash or are they merely a fashion statement for wannabe bikers? Biker chick as they call it.

As a heterosexual boot fetishist, I thought that all of the boots shown were a tad 'busy', IMHO. Ladies, if you want to vibe us boot fetishists, forget about the 'bells and whistles' and remember that a pure design, such a Kim Kardashian's various Boots ( especially her OTK's ), is what's going to impress us.
