Fur Accents For Your Fall And Winter Wardrobe (PHOTOS)

If there is one word to describe the fall/winter 2011 collections, it would be plush. Lush and colorful fur (faux and real) was a staple on almost every runway, from classic coats at Michael Kors to contemporary trim on accessories at Alexander Wang. And although the real thing will usually break the bank (and may offend many), luckily there are many more affordable and animal-friendly faux-fur options to buy now.

Click through the slideshow below to shop the story and get your fuzz (faux and real) on.

Lola: Punish the deed not the breed

I can certainly appreciate anti-fur fashion activists. All you have to do is see the many videos available watching animals get skinned alive, tortured, beaten to death. I would challenge anyone to consider buying or wearing fur after seeing that. There is no excuse to wear real fur when faux fur is simply just as if not more beautiful. Maybe at one time like hundreds of years ago it had it's function, keeping people warm in sub zero climates and winter environments. But the fur slaughter industry of today is a far cry from what was needed as surival back then.

I bet all of you have leather furniture, leather seats in your cars, wear leather and eat meat products.
So don't complain about people wearing fur.

I do not have leather furniture, I do not have leather seats, and I don't wear leather shoes! I do eat meat, but I don't go and farm little critters for their fur who have NO meat on their bones for me to eat. If I kill an animal it is for all of it... Farming animals Just for their fur is unjust!!! So I have the right to complain about people wearing fur! I own 4 horses, 14 chickens,5 cats, and 2 dogs. I would eat them if I was desperate and could use all that they sacrificed themselves for. So you need to think again. People are way to frivolous with their WANTS....

I actually tried to research this very issue. Most of the leather for large furniture/cars is from the slaughter of cows for meat--using all the parts, so to speak, so a company can make maximum profit and also so maybe a consumer can at least feel better that a bunch of cows weren't killed for their skin alone so we can stretch out and watch TV.

That is a major flaw in the logic of fur for fashion--the bodies and parts of the animals slaughtered are wasted while the fur is collected solely for fashion's sake. That, imho, is what makes fur wearing for fashion's sake so blatantly wasteful and wrong.

Not to mention, real fur smells. Seriously. It's a unique odor that I really can't imagine anyone enjoying. Gah. Hard to believe anyone today likes the idea of fur--real or faux. Yeah, nothing like dead animal wrapped around my neck. But, everyone who does love it certainly rationalizes or stubbornly refuses to learn about it, so it will continue to be an issue in the future.

I, personally, see nothing wrong with wearing real fur.

...Granted, the only time I will purchase real fur is when it is vintage and secondhand. It's beautiful, it's soft and luxurious, and it was farmed long before we became so overly sensitive. Might as well give it a home where it will be loved and taken care of.

When i wear fur it's real not some FAKE CRAP.

You need to come out of the prehistoric age. No real person wears real fur anymore. It became unfashionable and in poor taste years ago. No one is impressed if you wear real fur. Only disgusted at your extreme lack of taste.

Everyone is ugly in fur, only cavemen lookalikes!

Fur is dead, just like your morals and ethics, princess.

Disgusting, fur belongs on the animal NOT on humans. when are these designers going to get it. People with common sense and compassion will not wear fur...PERIOD. NO FUR, ever....
10:47 AM on 11/26/2011
Is this so called affordable fur also referred to as fake fur????
10:37 AM on 11/26/2011
the only creature that looks good in real fur is the animal that was born with it.

a cruel and unnecessary "fashion."
10:09 AM on 11/26/2011
Who wears real fur anymore?? It is and has been unacceptable for a long time. If you own a real fur or are considering buying one, GET A LIFE!
08:29 AM on 11/26/2011
Fur? Get with it! No, I don't want a fur coat, or any other fur item, affordable or not. When are women going to quit buying the skins of animals to look "pretty"? Its not pretty. Its sickening.

The full fur coat is too much for Texas, but I love the navy blue stole. It's a dye that looks chic without looking cheap.

Looks chic yet inhumane? Sounds chic, right.
