Custommade Curator: Piano Bar

HuffPost Social Reading
Photo from Michael Meyer Fine Woodworking

The piano is one instrument we wish we knew how to play, not only because it's an impressive skill to have but also because it's such a beautiful addition to the home. But since we're not so musically talented, there was never much reason to consider planting one in our homes...that is until we came across this clever idea by CustomMade artisan Michael Meyer. Michael took his broken down piano, a family heirloom, and transformed it into a hidden bar and bookcase, which now acts as both an elegant statement piece and a fun party trick. Our favorite part? The glass-encased keys original to the piano.

Good God, that's the UGLIEST thing I've seen in ages. Of course, I don't drink but I DO play the piano, in fact I made my living at it for about 50 years. But whoever designed this monstrosity obviously prefers their liquor over music.

You can take piano, and any other musical instrument, online for FREE now. So not being "musically inclined", rather too lazy to learn, is a poor excuse to turn a beautiful piece into a bar. I'd give mine away to a person who would love to have one, before I would even consider doing that to a vintage/antique like that.

Who comes up with this junk? First, if it was an "heirloom", it would have some value. Do not do this to a good piano. Secondly, if it was a worthless piano, it is now a worthless "bar" , that takes up too much space, with very little storage. You are better off buying a new piece than spending time and money creating an eyesore like this

My idea was to drop it on my ex-wifes head.

And all this time I've been wondering what to do with my old upright pianos...lol. Talk about a true "piano bar"!
Can I use my old toilet bowl as a planter? Punch bowl?

LOL. Many have already beaten you to the "toilet planter".

Darn! Oh well...I guess it's going to be a punch bowl at the next family reunion! LOL

This is NOT a DIY project - these old pianos can litteraly explode if not handled correctly- the tension on the strings in measured in tons and if the wrong strings are removed the cast iron frame will rack and break with an explosive force lkke you "ain't never seen"
