Many of today's female artists could take a few lessons from Dame Judi Dench. She is the epitime of class. In the same league as Grace Kelly and Jackie Onasis. Happy birthday Dame Judi and I pray you enjoy many more.

Happy B-Day Dame;
Yes ATGB was a great sitcom with Judy in the lead, but dont forget about her performance in Ridick. VinDiesel refused to play his part unless they wrote a part in the movie for her so he could get the chance to work alongside her one time. She is a class actress for sure.

Dame Judith Dench played a matinee in Philadelphia in about 1972, when I was fortunate enough to be going to a school that allowed us to sign up for a "classics of theater" series. The theater was filled with students from schools all over the Philadelphia/South Jersey area. Some were veteran theater-goers, some of the students were clearly out for a day off school rather than theater appreciation. There was chatter and goofing around in some of the front rows. Someone apparently flicked a paper clip and it landed on stage. Dame Judith, in character, delivered an alternate line to her fellow thespian: something about needing a moment to "deal with someone". She then stepped out of character, walked to the front of the stage and leaned in over the lights. Opening with a resonating "Would you please shut up!" she educated the miscreants in basic theater manners, turned, and by the time she reached her mark, was back in character and the play went on with a very subdued young audience. I have admired her ever after.

We watch As Time Goes By on Public Television in South Carolina at 8:00 PM most Saturday nights. Our favorite show of all times. We get both NC and SC Public Television in our area--really fortunate--so we catch it on NC station.
