Frizzy Hair Icons: 25 Full-Haired Women (And Men) Who Inspire Us To Toss Our Flat Irons

HuffPost Social Reading

When we posted this "A Look Back" photo (below) last week, it sort of struck us: How amazing does Diane Von Furstenberg look here? The wild, frizzy hair and devil-may-care attitude only adds to her allure. This inspired us to round up others who have eschewed flat irons and blow dryers in favor of their natural hair texture. From Grace Coddington to Solange Knowles to models at the Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 show, these women (and men) make untamed hair look effortless and absolutely amazing.

I don't know about some of these pictures..To me, there is a difference between frizzy hair and natural curly hair..2 totally different looks and shouldn't be compared to each other

Forgive all I said about Grace Coddington... Part is true, she looks odd, and I am not blind. I thought it was just a bad hair day for her... NOPE. She is always half bald, showing too much forehead, and wearing a ridiculous shade of red. Her hair appears to have been red as a younger woman, and she was scary THEN. She is a former model. Just goes to show there is no accounting for taste, because she has always been homely. Sad thing is...she didn't have to be. She had some great features if she wanted to accentuate the positive.

Someone has confused "frizzy" with "curly" and even in some cases "wavy" hair (or "damaged" and over processed). Yes, us curlies can easily turn to frizzies, but most of the photos here don't support that premise. Someone should have put more effort into photo choice.

Grace looks like someone tried to give her a perm but burnt her hair to hell! D:

I don't cosider some of these ladies "frizzy." Julia Roberts looks great. That is not what I would call frizzy. Just a nice, sort of natural look. Sarah Jessica Parker just an untamed curly look. They better redfine the word frizzy. Compare the two I mentioned to some of the others and you will really see frizzy!!

Me either. Cher had to perm her hair to even get a curl. Her hair is natuarlly straight as a board--and not frizzy. Susan Serandon has gorgeous tresses...curly, not frizzy. Most of the women they have in this gallery are not frizzy. Permed and tight is not frizzy, either. And, as far as tossing the flat irons, half of those looks were achieved with a crimping iron. No one wants frizzy hair. When there's a way to tame it, they usually do. Full, body, wavy, or natural curl doesn't mean the same thing as "frizzy". These were mostly beautiful women. Few of them with natural frizz...

Hate to be unkind, but this lady drastically needs a shorter, more controlled hairstyle.

That is a very bad picture of her with a permed, over done hairdo. And for God's sake, she needs bangs, BADLY. No one looks good with that high a forehead. I do however, think that she is a fairly attractive older lady. The "do" needs work---quick!

I never let my hair grow out that long anymore. It's ugly and a pain to deal with my hair. I look better with short hair.

All I got from this is that Grace Coddington is scary!!!!!!

I dunno if I would consider Janis Joplin to be a frizzy. She had that whole I-dunno-what-conditioner-is hippy thing going for her.

Yeah...she was frizzy and unconditioned... Sometimes her hair was haloed with a frizz. But, you have a point... Maybe some conditioner would have worked....

Why isn't Hellena Bonham Carter on this list?!?
