50 Women Over 50 Who Have Aged Gracefully (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

In a youth-obsessed society, wrinkles, gray hair and other signs of aging often lead many to ignore mature women. But as 89-year-old comedian and "Golden Girl" Betty White says, "Dreading aging is really a waste of a lovely life."

Inspired by the notion of timeless beauty, we've rounded up 50 women over 50 who inspire us: women like Diane Keaton, Iman, Julianne Moore and Helen Mirren who have aged gracefully. Tell us in the comments section who you'd add to our list!

Meanwhile, head over to our sister site Huff/Post 50 to find out what to do when your (life) makeover flops.

I think more than plastic surgery or anything, they're trying to show women who take care of themselves at any age, which I applaud them for! I mean why should people let themselves go just because their a certain age...We take care of our cars, homes, etc so why not our minds, bodies and souls...in all ways, not just through ps...I like that these women choose to stay vibrant and relevant in todays age obsession culture.

This is a very funny and absurd piece of fluff-all of these women have had some "assistance" to look like these photos. What would be more effective, is the truthful information on what they have really had done to maintain their looks. I am not opposed to using whatever advancements are available for woman to look and fell better about themselves. Not that I may choose to do the same, but information is a powerful tool. Real journalism would of done the investigation, given truthful facts and findings instead of feeding the masses this fake story. What would of been of more value would of been a truthful list of the regiments available to celebrities and then what is an alternative for the everyday woman to help enhance and keep the aging process at bay. Offer Medical treatments, facial exercises or over the counter methods that are the best investments in maintaining a youthful appearance depending upon your pocketbook. I'd like to know what new developments are being tested in labs for the futuren and I would rather view before and after pictures of everyday people.

we know that some of these ladies had work done. (cheating) But those who haven't God bless you. You are happy and comfortable in your own skin. And that is what matters. If you happy and take care of yourself it show so well than those who had work done. To each his own, just as long you are happy and healthy for your age and living they way you want.

these women are lovely it's true but "aging gacefully"? Half of them have had work done, others have probably been photoshopped within an inch af their lives and the rest are probably lucky to have good genes.

and quite frankly, how does this possibly help the rest of us? why don't you give us a list of women who have done something admirable to aspire to?

Come off it - hardly any of these women have any lines on their faces. Looking at these photos, you can practically smell the Botox. If you asked most of them to frown, they wouldn't be able to.

Why don't you show the women who have not had work done on their face...... Not all of those women have aged gracefully............. Please just show the women who have not!!!! had work done like Diane Keaton , Helen Mirren, Sharon Stone and Jamie lee Curtis Now they have aged gracefully....... NOT LIke Cher,Katie Couric , Christie Brinkley and Olivia Newton John !!!!They are not one of the ones that have aged gracefully lets see if you can get it right................ lets see if you can come up the real list of women that have aged gracefully...........

While I think that all of these ladies are beautiful, I can't help but think they'd only be truly "ageless" if they were getting the same publicity as "young" ladies. In other words, these are a small sample. I think it's safe to say that society still stigmatizes women with a shelf life when it comes to age and beauty.

I'm so very happy we are celebrating women past the age of 50. All the women chosen here are freaks of nature, sure, but it gives us all a little boost, to keep on trying to keep it together. Why? Because it's fun to feel healthy and sexy, no matter how old you are.
