Jane Fonda: Style Evolution (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Young actresses and stars can’t hold a candle to two-time Academy Award winning actress, Jane Fonda. The New York native, who turns 74 this Wednesday, has the lean and lithe figure of a 20-something, and dare we say, looks even better on the red carpet. This might have something to do with all those exercise tapes; she was a bit of a pioneer in the genre.

Whether it’s chic separates, curve-hugging gowns or animal prints (her favorite as of late), Fonda still works it.

We took a look back at the star’s drastic style evolution in the gallery below. While you're at it, check out other stars over 50 who, like Fonda, have aged gracefully and beautifully.

Then have a look through our many other Style Evolutions here.

I can tell you what I think her worst look was. It was back in the 60’s when she was photographed sitting on top of a North Vietnam antiaircraft gun while the young men and women of America were risking their lives fighting in this war against this enemy………..

She's definitely had the jowls around her chin fixed. This doesn't disappear with just exercise. If it makes her happy, then whatever. It's her money!

I don't agree with everything she's done in her lifetime but I applaud her chutzpah. She has been steadfast in her belief that the U.S. government at that time was lying to us and our young men were being killed because of it. Given our experiences with Bush and his WMDs, I don't think that's a stretch. Right idea - wrong way to go about it. And she's as much as said that in public apologies.

God, she is such a fox!...

I'll grant you, she looks good. But I remember on her previous autobiography book tour, she told interviewers that she regretted having had plastic surgery and wouldn't do it again. Since she so obviously has 'done it again', I wish somebody would ask her about it. Her prior attitude was as refreshing as a lot of what she has to say - but somehow now that she's gone under the knife again, it's taboo to mention it.

I remember Kim Novak on Larry King. Larry was going on and on about how young she looked, and Kim just said 'I guess I'm just lucky'. Now I may have missed her ironic tone, but I swear she wasn't using it. Maybe Jane's interviewers are just trying to avoid a Larry King sized foot in the mouth situation...
