Last-Minute Gifts From The Gas Station And Drug Store (PHOTOS)

Can you believe it? We're two days away from Christmas! I'm happy to report I have all of my friends' and family's gifts taken care of, but there's still the stocking to think about. It boggles my mind to see gift guides with ideas for $50 small gifts. None of that here! I grew up getting things like an apple (or an orange), some shampoo/conditioner, fancy chocolate, chapstick or hot chocolate mix. All pretty practical presents, and yet one of my favorite parts of the morning because we didn't have to wait around for anyone else to open 'em! Just a free-for-all!

Should you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing a small stocking gift on Christmas day, you're not completely out of luck. Gas stations and some drug stores (Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid) are open on December 25th - and here's how to make the most of what they have to offer.

Meanwhile, what's the best thing you have ever received in your stocking? Tell us in the comments section below and don't forget to visit What I Wore for more style inspiration from Jessica.

We don't have gas stations anylonger, they are now mini markets. You can't get directions, or full service at a gas station today. Most of our Mini Markets are run by people who you can't even understand and just want your money and they get out. When gas was 19 cents a gallon you got service at the old gas stations and maps, help, repairs, free air and an person to not only pump your gas but they also washed your windshield, check you oil, window wash and belts and it was all for free. Now that gas is over $4.00 a goallon your get nothing but gas and no help at all. So if your stuck on the road have a cell to call for help as a gas station is no help to you at all.

Scratch off lottery tickets is a very bad idea.......My wife's brother bought us $100 worth 2 years and when we won $1000 he never stopped bringing it up and asking for a cut of which my wife would never allow...We ended up donating the money for breast cancer....
