I Look Like Zooey Deschanel (PHOTOS)

"Has anyone ever told you," asked Taylor Swift when I interviewed her earlier this month, "that you look like Zooey Deschanel?"

"Sometimes..." I giggled, turning red and fumbling to turn the conversation back to the pop star. The truth is, it is a question I am asked frequently. Everyone, from the supermarket check-out girl to Christie Brinkley have asked about my resemblance to the star of "The New Girl." Slightly awkward? Yes. Flattering? Of course. Besides having brown hair, bangs, blue eyes and fair skin, I don't really see the resemblance, but I trust Taylor Swift (and the rest of the Stylelist team) that they know what they see.

Deschanel has plenty of look-a-likes herself. I recall when Katy Perry first came onto the scene and immediately confused her audience. At first listen, I recall being surprised at how Deschanel had reinvented herself before discovering that Katy Perry was a completely different person. Deschanel, Perry and even "The Devil Wears Prada" actress Emily Blunt have a collection of less famous twins, such as Welsh actress Siwan Morris and Canadian actress Mia Kirshner, but perhaps due to my love of girly dresses and black tights, I am mostly told that I look like Deschanel.

At the after-party for "Martha Marcy May Marlene" at the Empire Hotel in October, I was standing by myself, trying to get an interview with any of the Olsens (I eventually found success with younger sister Lizzie), when a blonde girl approached me. "You're not Zooey, are you?"

"No, I'm not."

"That's what I thought. My friend was 100% convinced that you were Zooey Deschanel. Just thought I'd make sure."

The blonde girl turned out to be Carson Griffith, who writes the "Gatecrasher" gossip column for the New York Daily News. "Damn, I wish you were her," she continued, "I was wondering why no one had interviewed you yet..."

Before I knew who she was, I debated lying. I could have pretended to be the starlet, but fortunately decided against it. What kind of scandalous headline would that have been, "Huffington Post Writer Steals Celeb Identity?" Only once have I actually followed through with pretending to be my celebrity doppelganger:

"You must get this a lot..." an unidentified man in a dive bar on Tybee Island in Savannah, Georgia started to ask. "Shhhhh," I hushed him, "don't let anyone know it's me."

"Are you serious? Can I have your autograph?"

"Fine..."

He bought me a drink, and proceeded to tell his friends, most of whom had never heard of Deschanel. One kindly said that I look like a "real person" version of Katy Perry. "Thanks." My friends and I had to leave the bar shortly after (before I blew my own cover) but I am glad to know that there is at least one phony signature on a cocktail napkin floating around the country.

I have been a fan of Deschanel's since she played the cool older sister in Cameron Crowe's film "Almost Famous" in 2000, and to this day I find myself watching her sitcom "The New Girl" out of loyalty. As celebrity lookalikes go, she's not a bad one to have - and it is certainly an ice breaker. Let us know in the comments section below if you have any funny stories about your celebrity twin:

ZD really has horrible style. Sometimes it's cute. But as I advanced through each image of her over the years, I realized, it's mostly bad.

Zooey who?

For many years, many people would ask me if I was related to Garth Brooks. I donned a cowboy hat and some tight wranglers and had some people convinced while at a country bar! (side note: I'm not really a country music fan)

My almost 22 year old grand daughter is a look-alike for Angelina Jolie. I wish the two could meet. The resemblance is uncanny. Both are beautiful women.

BACK IN THE EIGHTIES I USED TO GET EDDIE RABBIT, FOR THE THIRTY TWO MINUTES HE WAS FAMOUS. A LOT OF PEOPLE LOVED A RAINY NIGHT . I WENT INTO A BAR THAT HAD CELEBS DROP IN AND PLAY . I SAT AT THE BACK BAR PUT MY LAST TWENTY DOWN AND ORDERED A RUM AND COKE. THE BARMAID LOOKED AT ME, HER EYES GOT BIG AND BEFOR SHE COULD SAY ANYTHING I HUSHED HER AND SAID I WOULD LIKE TO RELAX ,LISTEN TO THE MUSIC AND NOT BE BOTHERED. SHE BOUGHT IT HOOK LINE AND SINKER. MY GLASS WAS NEVER EMPTY, SHE POURED DOUBLES AND GAVE ME DOE EYES ALL NIGHT AND WOULD NOT TOUCH MY TWENTY. AFTER A FEW HOURS I ASKED FOR A PEN. I SIGNED THE TWENTY, FOLDED IT AND SLIPPED IT TO HER, SHE POCKETED IT AND I SLID OUT THE DOOR.....WHAT DID IT SAY ? THANK YOU, Joe (fuckslikearabbit) Lombardi.

Nope don't see enough resemblance to mistake Zooey for Sarah...unless a make up team swept in to enhance appearance to make it more noticeable.

Years ago people used to think I looked alot like Tracey Lords. I was flattered until I found out she was not only an actress, but a porn star! Not particualrly a claim to fame that I'd want to be associated with. LOL

First of all I have to say that I'm shocked to find a story this insightful and utterly fascinating on huffpo, and while i like zooey, i think you look better.

No comparison whatsoever.

In your photo at the top of the article, I actually think you look more like Shannen Doherty.
