Gayle King: Style Evolution (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Gayle King is a power dresser, to be sure, but you won’t find her in a matching pantsuit à la Hillary Clinton. Instead, the editor-at-large of O, The Oprah Magazine favors rainbow-hued frocks that garner attention and show off her voluptuous curves on the red carpet.

Check out more of King’s bold ensembles as we celebrate her 57th birthday this Wednesday.

And have a look through our many other Style Evolutions here.

This morning she needed a stylist for sure. The dress did not fit her in any one place, it was unflattering, and it accentuated all the wrong areas. Not good!

Some of the outfits were okay. Some looked like she should be home scrubbing floors or doing laundry. Who would she be anyway if she was not Oprah's sycophant? Wow, talk about being in the right place at the right time! I should be so lucky to have a rich friend willing to pay me the big bucks to try to do something for which I have neither the training nor talent.

Gayle King is the African-American Kardashian....getting jobs and public promotion not due to talent but connections (aka Oprah).

Power dresser??? LOL. To be powerful, she needs to step out of the shadows of Oprah. Unfortunately, she tried. Her talk show is/was horrible. Stick with what works, honey. Oprah's coat-tails.

The ultimate example of a hanger on! She's nothing without Oprah.I watched her talk show once and that was enough for me.She couldn't even ask a question ar say anything without looking at her notes.Pathetic!

Just what we need - another black woman taking up space on the TV after getting famous for doing nothing more than being a friend of another black woman. They are not attractive and they have nothing to contribute. They are only there because of afirmative action, not because of merit (or in this case, certainly not because they are good looking). They dilute the value of the media as a source of information and entertainment.

What are you doing on the red carpet? You're a nobody riding on the dredlocks of a has-been, go home, take your shoes off, put on an apron and start making dinner for your family if you have one.

Gayle King is Oprah's best friend? That's like saying Porshe DiRossi is Ellen Degeneres' best friend.
Let's get real folks.

Why is Gayle King still hanging out with Oprah? I thought they broke up and were no longer in a loving relationship. I heard Gayle King was seeing Woopi Goldberg behing Oprah's back.

If you don't have something up lifting, kind or loving to say about a non political person you should keep quiet.Negative comments don't make Gayle look bad, they make you look small, mean and petty.
06:21 PM on 12/28/2011
That is what this site is for and I can say anything that I want to say and you, little person can not tell me what to say. Like it or not, you have no choice in this.
12:46 AM on 12/29/2011
I'm with you Killo. And if you noticed, apparently he/she thinks it's okay to criticize if you are talking about a politician. Just don't do it say it about anyone else. PFFFFFT, what a joke. Gayle doesn't need comments to make her look bad. She does just fine on her own. If Oprah ever makes a sharp turn without giving a signal, Gayle will break her nose.

Looks like a nice person.

So, we shouldn't care about anybody who isn't pretty. Got it.

I don't think her looks have much to do with it. Why should we care about someone who's only contribution in life so far has been sucking up to Oprah's billions. That's no reason for her to get the kind of attention she gets. As someone said, she is like the black Kardashian or Hilton.
