Liya Kebede: 13 Style And Beauty Lessons The Model Has Taught Us (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Taking a cue from the runway, Ethiopian beauty Liya Kebede has perfected a signature style that is fashion-forward, yet effortless. The model, who’s also a triple-threat -- philanthropist, actress and designer -- isn’t afraid to wear smoky eyes, one hue from head-to-toe, go barefaced or borrow from the boys. We may not all be models, but we can pick up tips and tricks from them!

See other style and beauty lessons we’ve learned from Liya as she celebrates her 35th birthday on January 3 with her beau, Kassy, and their two children, Suhul and Raee.

I have seen thousands of models and some real gems over the years. This model must be a product of serious budget cutbacks. She does not present the clothing or style in an attractive interesting presentation of fashion as the American taste reflects.
Note her kneecaps are poorly shaped as well as her lower legs are not balanced and boringly presentable. No offense..

BEAUTIFUL woman, but in photo #12 -- is that a hat she's wearing? You should NEVER wear a hat perched on the back of your head like that! A hat is NOT supposed to frame your face from the back. Awful, awful, awful. If you want to see the proper way to wear a hat, watch the Brits -- they nearly always get hats right.

This is what passes as a model these days? Sorry, I mean don;t get me wrong, I am not racist and find women of every race to be attractive. But, this woman looks like she never eats, skin and bones. I have seen crackheads with more meat on their bones then this woman. Not to mention.... no never mind its just is this what we want our kids to think is attractive? Some half starved little thing that doesn't even eat, because looking like a half dead corpse is more important to these people, then the nutritional value your body needs to stay healthy.

Every model you see is skin and bones, everyone white, black all of them

And to be honest I find it offensive. They want to make everyone believe that everyone is supposed to look like that and barely eat and for what? So we can be attractive in the eyes of some judgmental people whose opinions shouldnt even matter to us? Now there is nothing wrong with self control and not eating a lot more then you need but the portion sizes they are trying to push off onto people now a day are ridiculous. A meal that used to be for 1 or 2 people is now being portrayed as enough to feed an entire family of 6 and that is just ridiculous. Anyway like I pointed out before boney and half starved is not beautiful. I would rather my girl be a little chubby then malnourished and half starved. Looks are not everything and being healthy is more important then being disgustingly skinny.

And this just one day after a story about how most celebs don't know what they're talking about when it comes to just about anything...

This young lady is quite stunning, but with only a couple of exceptions, she does not know how to dress. She has almost no shape, so most of the outfits in this gallery just hang on her, and most of the outfits themselves are just not attractive. More "advice" I won't take.

She's obviously a very beautiful woman, but I can't say much for her "fashion sense". Some of these clothes are just horrible -- especially the man-tailored beige suit with the too-short "flood" pants and the too-small jacket. Her best look was in photo #8, the "smouldering eyes" look where she's wearing something that looks like a black evening dress (a very small part of her the dress or top shows in the photo). One other point I should add: dark complexioned women do not really wear jewel tones very well -- it's just too much. She looks best in ivory, like the full-length ivory dress she's wearing or othe pale tones that best complement her coloring -- like pale peach, pale pale yellow and especially ivory. Women with dark hair, eyes and complexion do often look better without makeup than women with pale complexions and light-colored hair, but she definitely looks much better with makeup, like 99% of the women in the world. Just because she's beautiful, famous and probably wealthy, doesn't mean she's completely knowledgable about what clothes look best on her.

So you've basically limited the amount of colors [for clothing], and shades of make-up women of dark complexions can wear. I don't understand your logic. For me, it's all about undertones. Liya does not look good in jewel tones because she has yellow undertones to her skin. However, if she had red undertones to her skin the result would be much more flattering. The colors you''d mentioned ["pale peach, pale pale yellow and especially ivory"] look good on those with yellow undertones.
