Yoox.com, The Shopping Mecca: SITE OF THE WEEK (PHOTOS)
Yoox.com has been around since 2000, but somehow it has managed to fly under my radar. The Italian luxury retail site offers more than your standard off-price fare, they also offer home, kids, vintage and special capsule collection items. Recently I started browsing Yoox and was blown away by the selection--Gucci, Miu Miu, Fendi, Lanvin and more at seriously discounted prices, as well as items from years ago, right next to last season's must-haves. No more kicking yourself for not buying those Prada heels back in 2005--they're available and half-off the original price! The best part of shopping Yoox? No mob scenes necessary. Additionally, the retail conglomerate (they also own Marni.com, Valentino.com and other drool-worthy sites) showcases original content like roundups that making shopping a trend as easy as click-click-buy, and videos with the likes of style icon and Pringle brand ambassador Tilda Swinton. The only bummer is the shipping fee--$9.50 for standard shipping is pretty hefty, but with a little research, I found a 10% discount through their iPad app. The sizing can also be limited, so my advice is to check back often for new merchandise. My purchases, including a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood pearl-encrusted heels that I'd been lusting after for years and a previously sold out Vionnet belt, arrived within four days and I'm more than a happy lady.
