"When thunder/lightning storms are coming, my 3 little dogs freak out. I rub them down lightly with a dryer sheet which calms down the prickly sensation they are feeling in their skin (ahead of the storm) and they remain nice and calm during the whole storm. Last summer I used this trick at least 20 times, and not one dog flipped out!" - Kathleen Traynor

I do not understand why people have to find fault with everything people suggest they like. If you don't like it don't use it, but keep you put-down criticism's to yourselves. It works for her and her dogs have never gotten sick. Let's try to respect others comments and suggestions!

Fabric softner is toxic for dogs!!
08:41 PM on 01/12/2012
they're not eating it

...But they lick them selves and so why rub them down with it, also if left near them they might "eat" it, dogs eat all kinds of things they are not supposed to be eating. I would not take the chance with my dogs life, better for others to know and decide for them selves I would think.

"Rub on the plastic 'sweeper' parts of cordless vacs, and vacuum cleaners to avoid picking up dust and debris while cleaning."

Isn't picking up the dust and debris the whole point of cleaning?

Tons of stuff have chemicals in it.....so stop freaking out! I'm not going to use it on my pets because I don't want them licking themselves afterwards. If you like 'em, use 'em...if you don't, don't. I like Bounce personally, so I use them and fabric softner!!!! More chemicals to make me smell better :o) Sometimes I buy organic because it is a good price due to a sale...otherwise, to expensive. To all the those freaking out about the chemicals, etc...you are exposed to some form of chemicals everyday, no matter how you live. It's funny how life used to be so simple, and you could live how you wanted...now, you can't because someone has to tell you how to live and it must be done their way...get over yourself and mind your own business.

Another great use : to stop squeeking running shoes; simply trace and cut the shape of your foot and place the dryer sheet under the removable insert. Squeeks are gone!!

Pretty clever.

I'm upset that dryer sheets are being made to sound like a good thing when they disrupt our hormones and have known carcinogens in them. And they make it tough to breathe for those of us with asthma. Why isn't the FDA doing something about them?

Dryer sheets have so many chemicals, and subjecting an animal to that for any reason is very unhealthy and absured. In fact, people who are organic never even use them in their laundry, because the chemicals seep into the clothes.

I am an avid crocheter and I love to make seaonal items, afghans, etc for my friends. I always enclose several dryer sheets in with the item to control static electricity. The nice smell is an added bonus!

sorry..........mispelled "crocheter" :)

Actually, I'm getting away from using dryer sheets. I've read that the chemicals in them are TOXIC AND, according to my grandson's pediatrician, they cause or aggravate many skin allergies and conditions. Throw the dryer sheets AWAY and don't buy any more!!!! You'll be doing your family a FAVOR!!!

Several uses were repeated (love bugs removal, critter repellant, etc.) so there weren't REALLY 30 uses.

ditto on the fact they are not only carcinogenic but i never could imagine who enjoys the smell - i wont use the word fragrance because i think they just plain STINK. going for a walk to get fresh air and some one is drying their clothes with it & the fresh outside air is now further polluted , makes for a cranky walk. i wish people would consider others in their pursuits of so called 'fragrance' - if you go without you will see fabric softeners are not a necessity, its just another marketing brainwashing.

Never knew there were so many http://www.homeremediesinfoguide.info uses for dryer sheets, but the one about keeping your pet calm during a storm is classic, I have a dog who can not stand thunder storms, so I will try this.

I added a comment before about dryer sheets containing a chemical that is an endocrine disrupter and a carcinogen, but i guess it's not in the papers best interest to post it?

Same thing I was going to add about them. DANGEROUS

Ummm why would you want to wipe down your pet with something that contains toxic chemicals that they will later ingest when they bathe themselves?
