Giving old furniture and decor away for free is a wonderful thing, but people seem to take that idea a little too far on Craigslist. Sometimes, trash is just, well, trash. From a David Soul shopping bag to a wearable puppet theater, click through the slideshow below for 10 truly odd things that made a wrong turn on their way to the dumpster.

I agree with the suggestionb that if you want a totem pole you should buy a wooden one. But not just any wooden one. I was in the mountains of North Carolina a couple years back and a totem pole caught my eye. It was appealing to me. I could picture it growing old in my back yard. Seeing a tag attached to the thing caught my attention. The tag? Made in China! Buyer beware.

I check Craigslist periodically for items I collect. When I answer an ad, I get a response only about 1 out of 10 times. Most people never respond. Most people also don't delete their ad once the item is sold.
