Yves Saint Laurent-Inspired DIY Nail Art

Since moving into a new apartment last summer, I've failed miserably at keeping fresh flowers alive thanks to constant thermostat changes and unpredictable sunlight; but this is one bouquet I'm sure I'll have a bit of luck maintaining longer.
Elizabeth Monson, who chronicles her love for fashion, nails and New York City on the blog Move Slightly, created this poppy print manicure -- a nod to Yves Saint Laurent's cruise 2012 collection designed by Stefano Pilati.
"I knew the bright abstracted red and yellow flowers would lend themselves to the inexact science of nail art," she wrote.
To get this perfectly imperfect look, paint on a base of Essie Chinchilly. Then create polka dots in various sizes using Sally Hansen Lightening and Essie Vermillionaire. Use a tiny paintbrush and black nail polish or Sally Hansen Black Nail Art Pen to create the black seedpod details. Once dry, seal with a top coat.

If you want to add a sheer and sexy look to your digits, try this black lace nail art influenced by Jason Wu's fall 2011 show.
