Kate Moss: Style Evolution (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Ask almost anyone who their style icon is and most likely, it’s Kate Moss. And it’s no wonder why -- the British supermodel has a chic and effortless style that always looks like she rolled out of bed that fabulous. On the other hand, it takes me a full 15 minutes of sweat and tears to just put an outfit together.

Moss treats fashion as an art, mixing vintage with couture. The newlywed can pull off a multitude of styles with ease, such as slinky curve-skimming minis, classy floor-length gowns, chunky fur vests, barely-there shorts and, our daily outfit, matchstick denim and blazer combinations.

Check out more of Moss’ style as she celebrates her 38th birthday with husband, Jamie Hince, and daughter, Lila Grace.

Meanwhile, check out Moss' younger sister, Lottie, who's also the rise to becoming a model.

And have a look through our many other Style Evolutions here.

I have no sensibilities to offend.

Kate Moss is beautiful, even for a "skinny" girl. She is very short for model, so being tiny is her natural state of being. I've been following her since her debut during Manchester's "Summer Of Love" in 1990 and think she's hot as all get out.

Isn't this the woman who (in defense of her anorexic body) said, "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!"???

Would MUCH rather read about a "Style Icon" like Cindy Crawford, who hasn't had a past riddled with self-starvation and cocaine abuse - and subsequently, a far better role model to girls and young women!

There ARE models out there who've shown great taste in style AND behavior but for some reason the media loves to elevate the "train wrecks."

I always see her in London, but I just stay on my way up.

Icon? She is probably one of the most forgettable "super-models" ever. I just looked at 45 slides of her. Now ask me in 10 minutes to pick her out of a line-up. I couldn't do it.

I'm sure she reads all these comments and cries all the way to the bank. Do you think she cares if you find her ugly or over-rated? I'm sure she has everything in life she really wants. Not only money, but a darling daughter and a loving hubby. Her future is secure, unlike most of ours. Even if she never got another job again I'm certain she has no worries. She's made plenty and I'd be willing to bet she's socked plenty away. All models know that, eventually, their careers will end, and most plan well for this. I do understand why so many people are jealous of her. It's not because of her looks, but because many think she doesn't deserve what she has whilst YOU would! Sadly, life DOES entail a bit of luck. I don't begrudge her anything. I wouldn't want a models' life for myself...have you seen the close-up pictures of those poor womens' feet at the end of any 'Fashion Week'? They EARN those ridiculous wages. I could never do that, even if I had the 'look'. She looks great to me when she makes the effort. I've known several models and they ALL look very plain until they've been styled for photos or shows. It's the bone structure and body type that counts in that industry, nothing more, nothing less. I've also seen many stunning women who will never be models cos their bones/bodies are wrong.

Ms.Martie,
WOW. You must think of yourself as THE "super defender" of Moss, and other fashion models to write so vehemently in defense of them!

Just because someone doesn't adore or even like Moss or some of her cohorts, hardly means that one is "jealous" or, that the rest of us are lacking in your infinite wisdom. I was a successful fitness and swimwear model for close to 10 years and I quit while I was still getting bookings to pursue the other (more meaningful) aspect of my career. I can tell you that as "jobs" go, modeling is one of the easiest and highest paid gigs around so I hope you can climb safely down from your "high horse," as opposed to falling!

Rememer when Kate Moss was "scary skinny"? Now she seems "normal" looking for a model.

Not arguing with anyone that says she is not the best looking, boring, generic etc. That is actually what makes up a successful model is someone that has little to no distinct feature. Whereas someone with distinctive features like Twiggy, Angelica Huston, or Angelina Jolie are really unique and interesting to look at, they really cannot be transformed as much as someone like Kate Moss.

One of the most boring models ever. However, she did standout in an era where models looked like healthy and not a depressed anorexic teenager. You take the good with the bad.

I'd like to get my hands on the person who "discovered" Kate Moss and made her a model. She is one homely woman...
