Diane Lane's Style Evolution (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Diane Lane’s style is as classy as it gets: the Academy Award-nominated New Yorker is known for choosing sleek column gowns and mid-calf frocks over thigh-grazing minis. Though that wasn't always the case. The actress has seen her share of furry boleros, animal printed skirts and ... mom jeans.

Take a look at Lane’s style evolution as she celebrates her 47th birthday this Sunday with her husband, Josh Brolin.

Meanwhile, have you seen her as Pat Loud in "Verite"?

She's one of my favourite actresses and she looks better and better with age. That pic with Timothy Hutton is cool - had never seen one of them together before, they look like they were going to the high school prom!

She was so pretty in "The Outsiders" as Cherry Valence....I think that was her name. But she's had work done, and she doesn't look the same anymore. Still pretty, but she was beautiful before and I think she should have just left her face alone.

Her clothing choices run the gamut from gross to great, but her face just keeps getting more beautiful year after year. I see no evidence of plastic surgery, so I guess we're just lucky to have her.

To echo almost every other post on here, she does indeed seem to be getting more beautiful with age. A really talented person with a very broad range, I've watched movies that I really didn't feel drawn to simply because she was in them, and have often ended up enjoying them based almost entirely on her performance. I think that Secretariat was really a success as a movie due to a great cast all round, but primarily to her great job in the lead. Never heavy-handed and always a pleasure to watch. Brava Ms. Lane!!
