Jennifer Aniston Home: Actress Set To Buy New Bel Air Mansion (PHOTOS)
Some people change shoes less frequently than actress Jennifer Aniston changes houses. But she does appear to have a Midas touch when it comes to buying low and selling high. Her latest acquisition is an A. Quincy Jones-designed house listed at $29 million last April and reduced to $24.9 million. The sharks, smelling blood, circled and Jen picked it up for $22 million, sources say. Escrow is expected to close this week.
And a fine place it is, although if history is any indicator, you can expect the remodeling crew to show up come Monday. In its present form, the midcentury modern has about 8,500 square feet. It sits behind gates atop a three-acre knoll and has killer 300-degree views from downtown to the ocean -- plus a vineyard. The home has spectacular public rooms, high ceilings, walls of glass and lots of meandering paths through gardens. Will Jen really do what Jen does when she gets a new house? Count on it.
When she spent almost $7 million last year for two apartments in the Bing & Bing building in New York's West Village ($2.069 million for a one-bedroom, one-bath apartment directly below the one-bedroom penthouse with wrap-around decks that she paid $4.95 million for), her plan was reportedly to combine the two. While that was going on, she was also shopping for something bigger in Gramercy Park.
Her big real estate coup, of course, was when she sold her zen-like10,000-square-foot bachelorette pad in Beverly Hills for $38 million, a real estate feat worthy of an Olympic gold in this market, says me.
For the time being, when on the West Coast, Aniston and beau Justin Theroux have been leasing a 1,761-square-foot house in the Hollywood Hills.
So maybe this time she plans to stay put a while and, you know, start the family that we all speculate she wants to start. Stranger things could happen and we'll be watching to see if a swingset shows up in the yard.
