Craft Of The Day: Popsicle Stick Vase

HuffPost Social Reading

Wooden sticks break, they don't bend -- right? Wrong! In this Craft Of The Day, we're defying logic and decorating a vase by bending popsicle sticks. Turns out that wood can be a relatively pliable material when exposed to a little steam heat. Want to know more? Scroll down for the how-to!

What You'll Need
Popsicle sticks
Vase
Steamer basket
Heat resistant gloves (like rubber gloves)
Polyurethane

How To Make It
1. Fill a steamer basket with enough water to last for 20 minutes and steam the sticks for 15 minutes.
2. Using heat resistant gloves, remove the the sticks one at a time.
3. Bend the sticks into the vase you want to decorate.
4. Let them dry. (It will take about one full day.)
5. Once dry, you can spray stain or paint them and then seal the sticks with polyurethane.
