17 Crazy Looks From The Spring 2012 Haute Couture Shows In Paris (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Haute couture, by sheer definition, means exclusive made-to-order. Therefore, all haute couture (translated to "high fashion"), is one-of-a-kind. In the world of style, that sentiment is often taken a little too seriously by designers who create pieces that are overtly eccentric and to be blunt, just plain crazy. This Paris haute couture season is no exception, as the last several days of shows have been a whirlwind of over-the-top, avant garde designs that even the bravest of style risk-takers wouldn't be caught dead in. But, however, absurd the ensemble may seem, we still can't get enough of the bold costumes that come parading down the runways this time of year.

Take a look through the slideshow below to see our picks for the most outlandish haute couture looks of spring 2012.

Why do those models look so anoerxic? Thats disgusting.
07:16 PM on 01/27/2012
I realize these are art pieces, not actual clothing, and not intended for production.

But man, those poor models all look embarrassed, mortified, humiliated (pick one) Actually, now that I look at them, they look pretty much exactly the way dogs look when owner dress them up in silly & ridiculous costumes.

Why do we continue to waste our time on this ridiculous crap that no one will
ever wear, because it's ugly pretentious and over priced?
06:43 PM on 01/27/2012
I understand the artistic expression, etc...in clothes. But, yuck. Show a fashion show where people would actually wear the clothes.

Does anyone else remember way, way back...when models were actually pretty? I mean, "High Fashion" has always been garbage, but at least the models were pretty. I guess I'm just getting old.
06:39 PM on 01/27/2012
Guess I'm getting old too. Nothing on the runways but ugly skeletons in hideous clothes.
