CB I Hate Perfume Founder, Christopher Brosius, On Perfume Etiquette, Smelling Like Dirt (VIDEO)

In a former life, perfumer and CB I Hate Perfume founder, Christopher Brosius was a cab driver in New York City. There he became intimately acquainted with his riders' various scents. "A lot of people would get into the cab wearing really heavy perfumes that made me sick," he recalled. Annoyed but inspired, Brosius set out to create fragrances that didn't really smell like perfume. "They smell real," he says. So real that he's channeled the earthy smell of dirt, even his mother's Sunday roast beef dinner. "Things people can connect with, things they remember."
Dirt and meat scents aside, Brosius also has a few helpful tips to applying and wearing perfume in a considerate way. The takeaway? Don't be that person who suffocates the entire elevator crowd in a cloud of your perfume.
