1-800-Flowers Customer Service Fails, Hundreds Of Valentine's Day Orders Left Unfulfilled (PHOTOS)

So this caught our eye when visiting our Twitter feed: A chorus (which may be an understatement) of angry customers directing their ire towards 1-800-Flowers. It turns out that for potentially hundreds of customers, their Valentine's Day orders were left unfulfilled...and customer service isn't proving to be the most helpful option. Calls to their complaint line have reportedly resulted in 20 minute-plus wait times, abrupt hang-ups and little resolution.

However, tweeting @1800Flowers seems to be the most helpful--customer service agents apparently are resorting to direct messaging to resolve the epic fiasco. Though resolutions seem to be coming forth, it doesn't make up for a disappointing Valentine's Day. (And we wonder how many people got in trouble with their significant others, honestly.)

And here's some irony: the 1-800-Flowers homepage displays this message on the front page:

Here's a peek at what the Twitterverse has to say....

It’s about make your treasured moments live long, even after time has passed on. It’s the digital quality manner of picture captivating that brings the event even livelier. Certainly Canon did a great deal in this regard. The link at www.rightshopping.in/g/itb.asp?C=Canon-Camera&b=Canon&cid=2is what one has to link.

how can Romance on the fourteenth turn into money grabbing law suit on the sixteenth. if you NEED the flowers to show your love you really have a whole different set of problems and if you get that upset so easily maybe a relationship isn't a good place to be. By the way I love 1800 and have never ever had a problem with them

I haven't used them for years (when I did it was an absolute fiasco and they never delivered the flowers- now I use edible fruit flower delivery) BUT a few yrs ago 1800 losers I mean flowers charged a TON of money on my credit card and the kicker was I'd ordered nothing from them! They said it was an accident (weird) and I had to fight for the charge backs. Worst company EVER!

really? It would be different if it was christmas where everyone knows Santo delivers only that one day...but are these guys saying Romance is over after Feb.14th? !800 flowers doesn't deserve the flack ..blame the fact you waited until the busiest day of the year to send flowers....grrrsch!

they didn't wait until the last day. They paid to have it ordered that day. I ordered chocolates for a friend in canada weeks ahead and paid for it to be delivered that day. The company came through as promised. If they didn't think they could do it, they should of said so.

Has anyone contacted the BBB, Better Business Bureau? Also, document everything you can, from the first
phone call, names, dates, phone#s, emails are also effective. We always copy all emails & anything sent or
received. They have internal problems for sure. Anyway, if you have a way to get to the main office,
& complain or a letter to them that will help. I'm sorry for all women, children, & others for this. I feel for you.
I know a lot of you don't understand the concept of V-Day. My boyfriend told me this year how he hates it because of the constant pressure by commercials & it's not a holiday. So this year I suggested we cancel it.
I went out & got me somthing on my own, yes I was upset at first but, I have to respect what he feels.
When I came home he wasn't feeling good & still made a little dinner for us. That means a lot.

I stopped using 1-800-Flowers years ago, after having three separate orders either screwed up or just plain not delivered. ProFlowers, on the other hand, has never let me down.

Thats what happens when you get cheap on the delivery method.....once UPS picks up the order it is their problem.

I had an order shipped from 1-800-Flowers and it was perfect.

If your life depended on the delivery of flowers last Tuesday, you need to ask yourself what the hell were you doing the last 364 days.

My fiancee ALWAYS goes all out for V-day. He sends me two items per day the week before AND the week of V-day. Imagine my disappointment when the ACTUAL Valentine's Day arrived and I got......NOTHING. SMH....and then they refused to answer his calls after speaking to him one time. Terrible.

Maybe you should quit being so snarky and/or jealous and realize that her fiancee's money was stolen so it's okay to complain.

After waiting to get a hold of a "real person". My wifes flowers were "overlooked",Had my wife not been working 220 miles away,I would have shopped locally. But, oh well. No harm ,no foul. A full refund is being credited. And the sales rep,was pleasant. Thank God, my wife knows I love her. Good Luck, to the rest of the folks whom were "overlooked".

Stop calling website flower order-gatherers and you might get your flowers. You give your order to someone who is not even in a flower shop and doesnt have a clue about what you're asking for. Order gatherers take as many orders as they can and still get rich even if they dont deliver. They have someone create a beautiful website or advertising campaign and you think they are a flower shop. They turn around and call the flower shop down the street from you, The local florist gets the order minus their cut of the money. CALL A REAL FLOWER SHOP. Order gatherers and web-sites are ruining the flower industry.
01:07 AM on 02/20/2012
You can't do that when your love is thousands of miles away
11:32 AM on 02/16/2012
Yep, ummmm, get a life!!! Sorry, if my flowers had never shown up yesterday, I would have had no idea, because "I WAS NOT EXPECTING FLOWERS". The fact that some flowers DID show up was a pleasant suprise and if none had, I would not have cared. A card is fine and a HUG.

I know for those who are not there it is worse because they were trying to make up for not being there, and I feel sorry for them in that situation, but most of these whiners were with their loved ones on V-Day, the ONLY problem was no flowers? WOW!

For those who did not get their flowers, have a freeking care about other people, wait a couple days for the furor to die down and then call for your money. You will get it. I can assure you that the folks at 1-800-Flowers were freaking out yesterday, trying to get everything taken care of. Imagine having NO life on Valentine's Day and every other holiday because some schmuck expects you to deliver flowers to his girlfriend who he lives with. WTHeck?!!? Buy your flowers locally, deliver them yourself. I understand your point that they garenteed V-day delivery and all, but you have SOOO many other options and the flowers are just not that big of a deal in the grand scheme. People are dying all over the world and you missed out on V-day Flowers. UGH!

An issue my husband took with the fact that his gift didn't arrive was that he paid over 50 dollars in shipping to assure it would be here, and it wasn't The point is, they provide a service and they *know* Valentine's day is a big day that is going to be extra busy. It is their JOB to prepare for that. They failed to do what they said they would and people have every right to be angry that they failed. It was not a surprise that they would be busy.
04:01 PM on 02/16/2012
You wouldn't have cared emotionally if the flowers had not shown up, but someone paid decent money for those flowers you recieved. You SHOULD care if they come, because they spent money on you. I hope whoever sent you flowers know that you don't care about their financial well being, because of course...it wasn't YOUR money they spent. Think about it.
11:20 AM on 02/16/2012
They are flowers, what's the big deal? No one should get "in trouble with their significant others" over flowers. That's kind of the epitome of shallow/superficial in my opinion. However, even if flowers are a bit played out, people should appreciate the fact that (last minute or no) someone went through the trouble to actually do something for them, considering how expensive they are and how poor the economy is right now.
09:57 AM on 02/16/2012
Why do people wait until the last minute and then order the most popular and generic thing on V-Day and then get upset if there is a problem? Here's an idea....you know it's coming...it's the same time every year....it doens't sneak up on you. Try putting a little thought into it next time and order earlier...or get something that will last longer than a few days.

Flowers are the most generic, last-minute, played-out, gift you can give on Valentine's Day. If I were a woman, I'd be offended to receive them...they take no thought and provide no real statement of love or affection other than...hey...at least I got you something.
03:56 PM on 02/16/2012
Although flowers are not necessary, you cannot just assume everyone ordered them last minute and that is why they did not get them. My boyfriend ordered my a month in advance and mine STILL did not come...it took them 2 extra days to straighten it out. If he were in town, he would have delivered something personally, but not everyone has the time, the day off from work to do so.

Its the though that counts, and if he hadn't sent ANY flowers, I would have loved him either way...but I think that since the company did not come through, it is still an issue. Valentines day will ALWAYS be filled with unnecessary items, but companies who make a promise to deliver, are required to keep that. That is all the article is saying.
