Molly Ringwald's Style Evolution (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

With career-making roles in Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink, Molly Ringwald was the ultimate teen star in the '80s. In keeping with her adolescent, girl-next-door image, the California native wore tea-length frocks, prom-ready princess gowns complete with long gloves and frumpy ensembles that didn’t accentuate her figure.

These days, The Secret Life of an American Teenager actress nails it on the red carpet in eye-catching halter necks, dresses with nipped waistlines and elegant one-shouldered looks. You'll never find her in a mini -- the mother of three definitely knows how to keep it glamorous, but still modest.

See more of Ringwald’s style below as she celebrates her 44th birthday with her hubby Panio Gianopoulos and their children. Meanwhile, which "Glee" star has a new haircut that resembles Ringwald's short style?

And have a look through our many other Style Evolutions here.

I remember her! She still has that "it" factor -- great, preppy/bohemian, kind of style. Wonder if she's as cool as the characters she used to play.

True story: Molly Ringwald was considered for the Laura Dern role in BLUE VELVET, but her mother read the script before she did and gave Molly's agent an earful about the trash he was sending to her daughter.

Saw THE BREAKFAST CLUB the other day. Remember the scene where MR fixes her lips by putting lipstick in her cleavage and bending her head down? (The expression "have a cow" is used in SIXTEEN CANDLES; "Eat my shorts" is used in THE BREAKFAST CLUB.)

Wow, she just keeps getting better looking as the years roll by!

well if you scraped off all of the makeup on her you might find a real lady. I don't know what you guys are sniffing or drinking, and I admit beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but your picks lately have really been out of left field, way out. LOL

She's a great actress. It's good to see classy, confident women. Molly represents women who are confident in who they are and of their beauty, without having to showcase their body parts. Many of these women celebrities dress as if they are the playboy model of the month.

You will see the money flowing. The pros know how to make money and they are not sharing. But we know too and WE ARE SHARING. G00GLE the term ' FAST MARKET CASH ' all one term and click the first site. Go right to the 'PENNY' 'STOCK' page to see what the rich don't want you to know. This will take you to another level of money making

Ok...one or two were ok...the last was the best but someone must tell Molly that redheads aren't able to wear every color!! We can't do orange, beiges, browns or light purple as well as others. We do great with blue, blacks, hunter green, off white, some pinks and purples and sometimes yellow depending on the material. Reds tend to have paler skin and the wrong color can make a person look washed out. ..any color can work depending on the style and person's body type...but some just compliment the redhead instead of just something to wear.

I must have no fashion sense, because I think red heads look great in beiges, browns, black and whites and some blues. I really don't like red heads in pinks or purples and especially not in any greens. Green on a red head makes them look like a leprechaun. Like I said I probably have no fashion sense but that's just my opinion.
