As Stylelist Senior Beauty Editor Simone Kitchens and I dashed backstage between shows during New York Fashion Week fall 2012, we noticed many of the models were flaunting neutral nail colors in taupe, beige and putty. This flesh-toned manicure trend was layered (literally) with another at Christian Cota's presentation.
Captivated by Cota's Mexican-influenced sweaters, vests and ponchos, CND manicurists blended "shades of a well-aged and sun-washed clay pot" to create terracotta ombre nails.

To get this look at home, first use a makeup sponge to apply CND Colour in Chocolate Milk from the cuticle to the center of the nail. Then add CND Colour in Putty from half way point to the nail tip. To finish the look, use CND Super Matte Top Coat to combine the two colors while still wet.
What do you think about this terracotta-inspired manicure? A new take on the classic nude nail, I think it creates a warm gradient color that wears well on any skin tone.
Why be down on how she looks? So she's not tanned, maybe she lives in the North & it is winter after all.
I decorate my own nails all the time.Free hand nail art is my hobby.I enjoy it.Good job on the nails! It's a nice idea.I usually go with things that aren't just random shapes, but this looks cute.
