Elizabeth Taylor Beauty Evolution (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

"I've always admitted that I'm ruled by my passions," said Elizabeth Taylor. So, it's no surprise that the actress' star catapulted because she put her all into what she loved: acting, philanthropy, fragrance, diamonds and most notably, marriage (eight times to be exact). And she did so -- until her death in March 2011 -- with unparalleled glamour.

In honor of what would have been Taylor's 80th birthday (February 27th), we take a look back her timeless and legendary beauty. With raven hair, violet eyes, thick brows and double rows of eyelashes (that we envy so much), she will forever be remembered as one of the most beautiful women in the world.

What is your favorite Elizabeth Taylor look? Tell us in the comments section below and check out her best off-screen style moments.

Taylor's parents were from Kansas and living in London where Elizabeth was born.

Wow, what were they doing in London? Such a dangerous place to be in 1944, the height of the war...

Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor was born at Heathwood, her parents' home at 8 Wildwood Road in Hampstead Garden Suburb,[3][4][5] a northwestern suburb of London; the younger of two children of Francis Lenn Taylor (1897–1968) and Sara Viola Warmbrodt[6] (1895–1994), who were Americans residing in England. Taylor's older brother, Howard Taylor, was born in 1929.[7] Her parents were originally from Arkansas City, Kansas. Francis Taylor was an art dealer, and Sara was a former actress whose stage name was "Sara Sothern". Sothern retired from the stage in 1926 when she married Francis in New York City. Taylor's two first names are in honor of her paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Mary (Rosemond) Taylor.

Colonel Victor Cazalet, one of their closest friends, had an important influence on the family. He was a rich, well-connected bachelor, a Member of Parliament and close friend of Winston Churchill. Cazalet loved both art and theater and was passionate when encouraging the Taylor family to think of England as their permanent home

funny, i have never liked elizabeth taylor or elvis presley.... and elizabeth never had violet eyes, that's just a bold face lie. i didn't care for either of their acting ...nor their movies..... elvis left the building when he died, and for me elizabeth left after national velvet.......(elvis left after jail house rock) which was not serious acting anyway....

elizabeth taylor did not have violet eyes.... that is a bold face lie, and started for publicity only... if she had them, some others would have too. sorry they were NOT violet sheesh, the things you people will believe....

it has been said that her eye color was 'violet'....i didn't see her in person to believe otherwise but cool down....it's just a matter of her eye color

My head is spinning, it happens when you see something out of this world---So please excuse me as i have no words to define her beauty---Explore her through your eyesight, only if you have enough vision power--

Elizabeth Taylor was good looking, but she couldn't act. It's a fact, she couldn't act. Ask any acting coach/teacher. She was a whiner too. Her voice sounded like feedback from a bad microphone. When she won an acting award, she won it for "just being herself" while employed working on a movie about a bitch.

Indeed , she her self said in an Interview long ago when ask what she would like to change , her respond was to that effect ...
"I would like to change my Voive ,- I don't like my voice " Still she was a Super Star and has done a lot of good with her wealth . Her AIDS Foundation to name just one . Unlike some other Stars who keep their wealth to them self, in fact taking their Stardom for granted .

indeed you are right about the acting, i never thought she was good looking or even pretty. she was a legend in her OWN mind only..... she could not act. and her eyes are NOT VIOLET, time to quit with the age old publicity lie.......just like they covered up rock hudson's and montgomery cliff's homosexuality for so long....

She always did her best to look radiant up-beat and smiling at her fans:
