Oscars 2012 Worst-Dressed: See Whose Looks Went Awry (PHOTOS)

HuffPost Social Reading

Style-wise, the Oscars are a time to shine -- or a time to fall flat on your face. We saw dresses that were draped to the hilt, so much so that it looked like the ladies were wearing their...drapes.

We saw Jennifer Lopez wear pantyhose on her arms (and possibly suffer a wardrobe malfunction?). And Angelina Jolie, we have a bone to pick with you: the fact that you are drop-dead gorgeous doesn't give you license to wear the same boring black dress every awards season. Check out our picks for worst-dressed of the evening and tell us in the comments section if you share our feelings.

And see who made our Oscars best-dressed list, along with our best and worst beauty picks. And then see many more Oscars 2012 red carpet looks over at HuffPost Style.

I love the simplicity of Virginia's dress. Guess she didn't show enough skin for Huff staffers

I am really over this site. See you all next year when we criticize more dresses and deliberately trying too hard poses showing off thin, pastey, malnourished legs.

First off, Angelina Jolie was the MOST beautiful woman at the awards show, she can and will pull off any dress that she wears to any award ceremony. Following the above comments about her dress, she has never worn that black dress to any award ceremony, and even if so, her beauty over shines the fact that she does not lust over her appearance like most other women. So refrain from such negative comments.

She's tacky and in this Oscar had no fashion sense. I'm almost certain she picked that dress out of her closet as she had no time to shop with all her kids.

I agree Angelina can wear a Moo Moo and she will still look beautiful. I'm so jealous :)

They were all mundane and boringly uninteresting. I really think the Oscars are doomed.

Gwyneth Paltrow's dress was my favorite. I'm not sure about the cape, but I think it made that dress, otherwise it may have been just an ordinary dress.

My question is: What the hell was Angelina Jolie showing off, anyway - her severely malnourished, SCRAWNY leg ?
Cant they afford food, or is she anarexic ?

Haven't you heard? Muscle is out, tendons and ligaments is in.

OMG! I don't think anyone in the Oscars Awww'ed me. They were all mundane and boringly uninteresting. I really think the Oscars are doomed.

do not share your views on Angelina. If you really look at the dress and stop obsessing on the stance, it is an exquisite dress...the angles at the top, the gorgeous bustle on the back with the stunning diamond brooch at the waist. It's gorgeous and she looked drop dead gorgeous in it. Ya'll are just jealous of her outrageous beauty.
11:26 PM on 02/28/2012
I guess if you like bony arms and oversized lips .... you (and I do mean, you) can call her an outrageous beauty.
11:49 PM on 02/28/2012
Okay. Love the dress, but she is hideous.
03:41 PM on 02/28/2012
Boy, you just didn't like anything.

I did like Meryl Streep's speech, even though I was one of those millions of americans that did say, "Oh, her again".

SOME OF THE GIRLS ARE TOOO THIN BREASTLESS WEARING THE WRONG TOP!!
10:16 PM on 02/29/2012
Let's just all be 32 FF's.
12:32 PM on 02/28/2012
I'd Kill to have her looks.....she is beautiful and graceful and having Brad Pitt for a playmate doesn't hurt.
01:56 AM on 02/29/2012
Brad Pitt is tired, but Channing Tatum.... What more can I say.
12:24 PM on 02/29/2012
Well I'm not into little boys so Channing Tatum is a little too young for my taste. I don't have a cougar syndrome. Brad Pitt will do just fine :)
12:27 PM on 02/28/2012
Angelina has a "leg up " in the competition. :)
01:53 AM on 02/29/2012
A leg up her WooHoo.
01:57 AM on 02/29/2012
Or maybe, a leg up her kuka, as they say in Jersey Shore.

Wow! I don't know what writer, Christina Anderson, was thinking (or smoking) but I totally disagree with her pick here! Forget the obvious bad designs & decisions - I agree with those- but she picked many of the BEST of the night! I was stunned and her obvious lack of taste in couture. Hopefully, readers will check out E! and EW or TV Guide for some much more educated dressed lists for this year's Oscars. This is a farce.

Angelina Jolie looked rather cheap with the leg outside the dress. She is very pretty so why would she cheapen herself? Beyond me.
