Stylelist has an exclusive interview with celebrity designer Heather Thomson, creator of the popular -- and comfortable and effective -- Yummie Tummie shapewear top. Manolo Blahnik shoes are dreamy in many ways. His footwear is so gorgeous that, if you're a shoe girl like so many of us are, it will haunt you in your sleep.

Sarah Jessica Parker has said she could "run a marathon in a pair of Manolo Blahniks." But sadly, they're so expensive, most of our footwear fetishes are left unfulfilled and we can only fantasize about actually owning a pair.

"Manolo Blahnik Drawings" is a new book featuring the sketches Mr. Blahnik creates early in his shoe designing process. The tome shows over 120 of these, in full color, with captivating and fanciful details like raspberries, laces and stiletto heels that should be impossible to wear, but somehow are crafted into perfection.

The sketches are organized by decade, starting in the Seventies and going up to the current one. So, for now, you can live vicariously through the amazing artwork.

It's a hot pink, canary yellow and acid green Fashion Alert for a budget-conscious Style Kings (and all you Queens, too)! The highly anticipated second wave of Matthew Williamson's high-low collaboration with H&M arrives in stores on May 14th -- as in tomorrow.

The collection is filled with vivid colors and patterns that are perfect for hot summer days and sultry nights. In addition to his drama-filled women's line, Williamson has also created his first menswear line. And it's not for faint-hearted boys! We weren't kidding about the hot pink (pants) or acid green (shorts). Last night at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, D.C, philanthropy-minded fashion fans attended Sweet Charity, an event to benefit The Heart of America Foundation's Books from the Heart program, which gives books to disadvantaged children.

The annual fundraiser includes a silent auction, gourmet tasting stations and an awards ceremony, And then there is the famous (infamous?) Des Alpes Chocolate Fashion Show. Dozens of well-known chefs use their culinary creativity to design clothes -- and decorate models -- with chocolate and sugar confections.

We have to take our hats off to the brave models who strut their stuff down that runway -- a little bit of nervous sweating could have meant wardrobe disaster!

Dramatic makeup on the runway is inspiring, but few of us have the skills or patience to recreate the looks at home. That's why we were thrilled to get an invitation for a Dior Master Makeup class at Neiman Marcus, led by professional makeup artist Karen Hummel.

Along with 15 other lucky ladies, we watched Karen transform a willing volunteer from regular chick to runway goddess, giving her the trendy bronzed look that's perfect for spring and summer. Then we all got a chance to try doing it ourselves, with expert guidance from the Dior experts -- and mixed results!

We can't get enough of the fashion smarts of First Lady Michelle Obama. And we have company! There's a new book coming out this week, Michelle Style, by Mandi Norwood, and it indulges our craving for all things related to Michelle's confident and accessible style.

The book is a retrospective of the outfits Michelle wore during the campaign and Inauguration, starting with several chapters organized around color -- which Michelle fans know she uses masterfully. Upon arrival, they received word that, now try to follow this, Bruni's former lover's brother's (does that make him her "lover-in-law?") apartment had been broken into. A laptop and digital camera were among the stolen items, of course. (Will the famous ever learn?!) They supposedly contain family photos of Carla with Raphael Enthoven and their nine year old son, Aurélien. But reports are mixed as to whether there are any "explicit" photos in the mix.

Carla's colorful past -- which includes dating Mick Jagger and Donald Trump, in addition to posing for nude photos during her days as a supermodel -- keeps threatening to erupt into a royal scandal. So far, she's been able to keep everything under control, and look fabulous doing it. But is that all about to change?

Style Evolution of Carla Bruni

    Ooh la la! Political spouses in the US are expected to keep a low profile and support their significant other, ideally in a red suit (or blue, depending on the affiliation. But over in France, things are a bit different. Their First Lady, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, is a musician and a former supermodel who has been photographed wearing even less than this creation from Jean Paul Gaultier's 1997 Fringe Bikini collection.

    On April 27, Bruni-Sarkozy met Princess Letizia of Spain. The Eurpean first ladies dressed up for a gala dinner at the Zarzuela Palace outside Madrid. Bruni went for classic, Audrey Hepburn-esque glamour in a black backless dress, while the Princess donned a dress befitting of her title - an eggshell blue satin gown with a glittering train.

    This week marks Bruni-Sarkozy's inaugural visit to the U.S. as First Lady of France. Since marrying French President Nicolas Sarkozy in February after a whirlwind romance, Madame Sarkozy has charmed diplomats, heads of state and even the notoriously critical French public.

    Madame Bruni-Sarkozy (in a purple Christian Dior suit) looks a bit shocked at a Bastille Day ceremony in July. Earlier that week, the singer/songwriter did the seemingly impossible and startled French sensibilities with her new album, on which she sings "You are my junk. More deadly than Afghan heroin. More dangerous than Colombian white (powder)," adding: "My guy, I roll him up and smoke him."

    On the same album Bruni-Sarkozy sings that "I am a child/ Despite my 40 years/ Despite my 30 lovers/ A child," which must have been a great conversation starter when she and her husband welcomed Pope Benedict XVI and a contingent of priests from the Vatican in early September.

    Earlier this summer, Bruni-Sarkozy played hostess to another religious leader. The Dalai Lama showed the retired super model the proper way to wear a Tibetan prayer shawl.

    Entertaining famous and powerful men is nothing new for Bruni, who was at one time better known for her boyfriends than her career. Past conquests include musicians Eric Clapton (her date at this 1992 party thrown by Sting) and Mick Jagger.

    The British papers went wild for Carla when she and her husband made a state visit to London in March. Columnists were torn: was she the new Jackie Kennedy or Diana, reborn? Fashion insiders were unanimous however, in heaping praise on the 40-year-old's wardrobe, which consisted of the best of the Paris couture houses.

And if you thought Carla's first 24 hours in Spain couldn't get any worse, think again! Bruni is locked in a Battle of First Lady Fashion with Princess Letizia of Spain, a former TV journalist and the wife of Prince Felipe. The press can't resist comparing the two. And it appears, in this round, Carla was not declared the winner!

Both women looked beautiful at a state lunch, wearing conservative, high-necked, knee-covering dresses. But Princess Letitizia took the crown. Apparently, her killer 5" stilettos trumped Carla's not-sexy-enough kitten heel Louboutins.

We can't wait to hear what happens next. As they say, when it rains (in Spain), it pours!

Stella McCartney has made headway as crusader against animal cruelty and maintains a vegan fashion line and lifestyle, but despite her penchant for organic fabrics, don't feel compelled to call her a sustainable designer. "It's not very sexy sounding, is it," she retorted recently at a Neiman Marcus shopping event in San Francisco when it was suggested that she is the face of sustainable luxury. "We've never shouted about it, and until recently no one has really mentioned it except for journalists. If anything, people would ridicule us when it came up!"

"That said, naturally I'm proud of it, because that's where fashion is going," she continued. "It's the most modern thing you can do. It's just the way I work - fashion isn't separate from the rest of your life. When we can do something that is environmentally conscious in the collection, then we do. If it looks like crap, then we don't do it."

If there's anything we love, it's a man who knows his hair product. Add in dreamboat handsome and creative genius, and who do you have? Johnny Depp.

Depp is in steamy Puerto Rico filming a new flick called The Rum Diary, based on the novel by Hunter S. Thompson and set in the 1950s (above, left). His naturally thick and wavy hair was reacting to the humidity in a big, bad way, refusing to stay slicked back like the hair folks wanted.

According to Star Magazine, the on-set stylist was on the verge of a nervous breakdown ("Nothing could control his hair," said a source) when Johnny saved the day. He suggested a hairstyling blast from the past trick he learned from his 1990 film, Cry-Baby (above, right). A healthy dollop of Dep gel with a thick coating of Aqua Net hairspray on top. (You know, exactly what you used to score bangs like Paula Abdul in Opposites Attract ). After employing Johnny's secret styling sauce, the show could go on.

Speaking of frizz tips, we have a good friend who swears by Lubriderm when she has to tame steamy summer hair disasters. And we've heard Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer works wonders too.
