When you think of a hotel suite, you might think of style, but you probably don't think of fashion.

The Presidential Suite at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach in Florida is an exception, as it boasts a wall of "shoe art" paying tribute to former First Ladies and other worldly dignitaries.

The almost 2700-square-foot suite -- which can be yours for $4,000 to $6,000 a night -- includes a nightly bath butler, and, as we found upon visiting, an under-lit onyx bar and stunning views of the Atlantic, which pale in comparison to the gorgeous display of shoes created by Miami designer Robert Tabor.

Michelle Obama's shoe will make its debut on January 17 (the First Lady's birthday); just a few days prior, the Obamas will celebrate their first year in the White House. As you would imagine, Mrs. O's shoe steps up the style quotient.

Like Mrs. O., the lemongrass-colored lace shoe is high-fashion, channeling her Mrs. Obama's dress at the Presidential Inauguration.

Embellished with a velvet and jeweled bow and an "Obama '08" campaign button at the toe, it also showcases a column inspired by the White House architecture, as well as a graduation cap and insignia from both Princeton and Harvard Law.

Also prominent is a family portrait, accented by a red, white and blue ribbon and Mrs. Obama's First Lady campaign button.

We chatted with Jamie Sorcher, resident tech expert at Skype, about how this technology could affect the way we experience fashion and shopping in the very near future.

They just keep coming -- another major brand has filed for bankruptcy.

Penny Loves Kenny, the trendy and popular juniors footwear brand, filed Chapter 11, reporting assets of around $900,000, and total liabilities of almost $4.9 million, reports WWD.

Co-founder Kenny Robinson remained positive at this week's FFaNY shoe show, saying that they filed for bankruptcy due to two major legal issues they've been dealing with almost since their inception, and that the seven-year-old company's lawyers recommended this course of action as protection.

Ella Orko, an 86-year-old Chicago woman, was arrested last weekend for allegedly attempting to steal over $250 worth of merchandise (including a number of beauty products) from a grocery store, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

Among the free-dollar items stuffed into Orko's pants were two packs of L'Oreal RevitaLift anti-wrinkle cream and eight jars of Olay face cream.

Additionally, she had snagged five packs of salmon, 11 packs of AA batteries and four jars of instant coffee, as reported by Splash News. Does she know about some new skincare routine we're not familiar with?

This marked Orko's 61st arrest -- 13 of those have been for shoplifting. She was paroled in 2007 after serving time for retail theft the previous year.

Historically, major political events (particularly wars) have had a huge impact on fashion. But, according to AP Fashion Writer Samantha Critchell, the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are not affecting fashion trends very much, if at all.

Fashion historian Kathleen Campbell says that the recent wars "have not been impactful" in the ways that previous wars have been. For example, during World War I, trench coats gained popularity, as did shorter skirts.

While, World War II had an even greater effect, as manufacturers began to use different fabrics and leaner silhouettes due to the rationing of materials. Vietnam brought about the ironic popularity of Army green and fatigues.

Last week, it seemed likely that Christian Lacroix would be purchased by Bernard Krief Consultants, who claimed to be the only contender.

Now, WWD and Fashion Week Daily both report that Krief's offer was rejected as "insufficient," but that a bid from Borletti might do the trick.

Borletti, an Italian group that owns department stores La Rinascente and Printemps, got a "serious" offer in just before yesterday's deadline passed. Two other unidentified bidders also made offers, but because they were for just one euro each, or about $1.45 US dollars, they were deemed "inconsistent" and weren't considered.

This September, a commercial court will consider the bids and make a ruling. Borletti's will be considered, of course, but there's also a possibility that the current owner, Florida-based Falic Group, will retain Lacroix and implement a restructuring plan that will cut the employee count from 124 to just 12.

We squealed when Isaac Mizrahi created a collection for Target (and cried a little when the partnership ended). And so, WWD's report that the designer was entering a new partnership to make his wares more available to the general public was positively music to our ears.

Mizrahi is partnering with QVC, and he's far from being the first big name to explore the world of home television shopping. Jay Manuel sold a line of makeup with the retailer, and Patricia Field took her designs to HSN (for a very limited time).

Expect to see Mizrahi merchandise hitting the airwaves in December. The designer is lending his name to a wide variety of items, including apparel, shoes, handbags, and home accessories.

Jennifer Aniston and Eva Mendes have both been spotted wearing Stuart Weitzman's "Alex" wedge sandal, and it leaves us just one question -- who's next?

When one well-dressed Hollywood hottie dons fabulous footwear, we take notice. But when two wear the same shoe? You'd better believe we're ready to call it a trend. And this is a trend with which we're be more than happy to get on board!

The "Alex" sandal is everything we love in a summer shoe. It gets a tropical vibe from the crocheted straps and woven espadrille wedge platform, but the sex appeal is plentiful with the five-inch heel. As demonstrated by Aniston and Mendes, it works equally well with pants or a dress, and get this -- it's on sale!

The Christian Lacroix saga continues.

Earlier this month, we feared the worst for the fantastically high fashion design house. Although Lacroix is a fighter, the odds were stacked so far out of the designer's favor that it seemed the end of the label as we know it was inevitable.

However, WWD reports that turnaround firm Bernard Krief Consultants might be planning to save Lacroix. The firm claims to be a lone contender, and explains that it's choosing to bid because Lacroix is part of France's cultural heritage. We couldn't agree more!

Lacroix is currently owned by the Florida's Falic Group, which intends to seek a buyer through the end of this month. If, by that time, a buyer hasn't been found, the124 employees will be cut to just 12 as part of a restructuring plan.

Golden Gate Capital, one of the numerous bidders interested in acquiring Eddie Bauer in yesterday's auction, came out the winner, according to WWD.

The $286 million cash bid beat out others from VF Corp., Iconix Brand Group Inc., CCMP Capital Advisors, Gordon Brothers and Hilco Consumer Capital.

Reportedly, Golden Gate intends to retain most of the company's employees and keep the stores in operation.

Eddie Bauer joins Spiegel and Newport News as an acquisition of Golden Gate, which also recently acquired Haband, Appleseed's, The Tog Shop, Draper's & Damon's, Sahalie and Norm Thompson, in addition to the retail operation it has through Express.
