What I Will Be Wearing for the Fall/Winter 2011 Season

HuffPost Social Reading

Fall is my favorite season; I love the bite in the air as the cooler weather begins to approach and I definitely have a soft spot for all fall weather clothes. Even though at this particular time of the year, I'm always designing the SS12 fashion show collection, I am still thinking about my own personal wardrobe for the coming months.

For this fall, I'm personally very excited about my (Look 55) cream deco-sequins embroidered tulle dress, I can't wait for an occasion to wear it (and at the remarkable price of $480.00, it's a big seller for me this season). On the runway we showed it in cream with a luxe fox fur coat that I did with Adrienne Landau. It has a sort of flapper quality to it when paired with a long necklace and cream tights, but I'll be wearing mine in black w/ black patterned tights and a chunky boot. Another great dress I'll be wearing is a beautiful Miu Miu one that I just purchased. It's a black lilies-of-the-valley sequins embroidered 40's-inspired dress. I also just purchased Miu Miu's cool glitter boots that I've been seeing everywhere, which I can't wait to break out of their box.

I'm also looking forward to when it gets a bit cooler to wear my (Look 17) olive metallic camouflage jacquard mod parka. It's just the perfect coat, sporty and luxurious at once. Coats are my favorite fall purchase. My philosophy is that they are basically the only clothing that everyone on the streets sees you in, so it had better be a good one! This one is casual so can be worn with jeans, but it has a great metallic sheen to it so looks great when worn over a dress too.

For day, I'm going to be wearing my silk crêpe de chine dresses (Look 1 and 18); the graphic black-and-white giant star print that opened my show, and the oversized butterfly wing print in jade. That is sort of my signature style for when I'm at the office. I like the comfort and ease of a fun, printed dress worn over leggings or tights and paired with low moto-boots. I'll also be wearing the Chukka boots from my FW11 collection. These are part of the Anna Sui for Hush Puppies collection that we launched at the last show. They're lined in faux-shearling so they're quite soft on your feet and feel like you're walking on cushions! Great for running around the office.

One of my favorite designers is Zandra Rhodes in London. I just ordered two iconic-print dresses from her for the fall, and they're due to arrive any day now. One is a navy blue silk chiffon dress that is printed with a vintage "Lace Mountain" Pattern in dark and light grey. It has these great billowing sleeves and a gathered skirt. The other dress is a vintage style tunic in beige silk chiffon that's printed with vintage "Mexican Circle and Feather and Triangle" patterns in black, blue and pink. I am checking my deliveries each day in anticipation, I will probably wear these fairly soon since they're not too heavy which makes them good transitional pieces.

Well, I'm back to work on the upcoming SS11collection... Looking forward to seeing what everyone else has in store for their fall wardrobes. When getting dressed, my motto is always to have fun, make an effort, opt for a little glamour, and don't take yourself so seriously. Enjoy!
