Too bad: can't see the shoes in this photo! Quirky, and a MUCH better reason to travel to Italy than the wedding of any two over-rated, spoiled celebrities.

Oh, please. If the only ding you can give the Catholic Church now is that the Pope wears Prada...you might want to get a life. ..one of your own, perhaps.

It is a real shame that a man such as the pope can't be a better example of what he is suppose to represent. A true follower of the God he is suppose to be serving would mean a humble, and giving life style. When are the roman chatholics going to learn that giving generously is good, but know where your money is going, so it helps build Gods kingdom and not a mere humans

Red shoes made my Prada will make a good lure for unsuspecting little catholic boys being called to "service". Once lured, it'll match well with the little red stain that'll be made in the little boys' underoos. This world is sick and most all of it is in the name of religion. Good luck with that.

This is such a disgrace.. The pope should be in sandals and rags, like Jesus was...to be more Christlike,,you cannot ask your followers to do something youre not willing to do yourself..ugh...

I found it most intersting that most of you focused on the Prada shoes and no one mentioned the lakeside home!!!!!!!!!!
This notion of how many starving people would the price of these shoes feed is getting damn old. How many starving children could we feed if you sold your home, your car, your boat, YOUR shoes! EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE has something that they do not need. It does not mean they do not deserve it. They more than likely worked damn hard for it and do deserve it. I give money, food and clothing to charity, but I am still keeping my Coach purse and I don't care if it cost me $250. I deserve it!

You complain about people having things they don't need Susan,
then turn right around and talk about the thing you don't need BUT are going to keep. Understand what a hypocrite is? OK, The church gives money, food and clothing to the poor to the tune of millions a year.
So let them keep the estate that has been the Vaticans for hundreds
of years.

Ok bright red prada shoes, and a long white gown posing for a calendar is this man a pontiff or a pinup. Actually I would have to say my first impression would be he's a sceaming queen.

I think Susan hit on something significant. We all want to see the hungry fed, the homeless sheltered, the poor taken care of. But the sad reality is that we want to see someone else doing the legwork to make it happen. How many of US have worked in a foodbank, donated time to a Habitat for Humanity project, or even dumped a few bucks in a Salvation Army bucket? Susan has at least put her money where her mouth is. You GO, girl! And, by the way, keep the purse! You do indeed deserve it!

If his shoes is the only thing you can bitch about, get a life. You should try living without any privicy for a while, think you could handle having everybody in the world watching you to bitch about what you do or wear?

I am Catholic and see nothing wrong with him wearing Prada for a charity. For Crying out loud, lets get a grip. If Mother Teresa was asked and could have helped by wearing Prada or anyone else, she would have. Please, Ah nuh , is it ?......Let's TRY to have some Respect, reverence etc. for The Pope. If ONLY because other's here including me, would have for your chosen Faith and Beliefs. I do agree you show yourself to be , most likely a kid, so I KNOW you will take this as condecending but, not everyone you'll meet will be so understanding.

Maybe the question should be how many pair of red shoes does this pope have? He has had pictures of his red shoes on the net before.

Wow...some people really have a talent for nailing down the cause of all the world's woes, don't they? Who cares what kind of shoes he has. If he was barefoot, people in Somalia would still be killing each other. People in other countries would still be starving. No matter what the pope wears or doesn't wear, the world will still have it's problems. To suggest otherwise shows that you have no problem finding ways to blame authority figures for things that will happen no matter what... So, in some of your minds, I guess you think if the pope was a pauper, the world's problems would go away? Hmmm...I wonder how many of you would be willing to give up your $50K SUV, your Rolex, your kid's PS2, your plasma TV, your Bose wave radios, your $300k house in the 'burbs, your wife's jewerly and wardrobe, all in order to save the poor starving people in Africa. You wouldn't. So, SHUDDUP, already!!! Don't expect anyone else to do what you know damned well you wouldn't. And as far as the "altar boy" comments, well, yes...there have been some bad priests doing terrible things. But then again, we have politicians and thousands of regular "everyday" citizens doing the same thing. They're all sick, and should all have their nutz cut off. But the whole organization is not bad just because of some "bad apples". If that was the case, we'd have to say the whole human race is bad...
