No such thing as a "Blood Crystal"

swarovski chic blue ringWith all of the hullaballoo over diamonds these days (did anyone else notice the veritable dull dearth of sparklicious bling at the Oscars this year?), what are we Styledashistas to do when we need to get a sparkle-fix?

Forget about those silly shiny pieces of stressed out carbon! I say go for crystal! Some may say that adding crystals to any- and every- little thing out there is over and done, and though I wouldn't necessarily disagree with that statement, I wouldn't agree completely with it. Yes, adding tiny pink crystals to your cel phone in the shape of a French kitty is a little passe, but crystals are still an amazing way to accessorize. Take for instance, the entire line of Spring and Summer jewelry from Swarovski. I am wild about almost every single piece, and since big, fat cocktail rings are quite the trend for this season and the next, I may be investing very shortly in the Chic Blue Ring, a rhodium-plated ring with blue, grey and yellow coloured crystals. If this ring were made of diamonds, it would cost thousands of dollars more, not to mention the human cost. From Swarovski, this ring is $210.
