$13,000 wedding gown with 90 ft train

It seems that for many women if there's one day in you life to be ridiculously lavish, and spare no expense, it's your wedding. That was certainly the case for one bride in South China, who, on her big day, wore a dress with a 90ft train.The $13,000 dress took 10 tailors to make it, 45 days to sew it, and 20 people to carry it.
Let's put this in perspective. That's 77 feet longer than Queen Elizabeth's gown, 65 feet longer than Princess Diana's gown, and three first downs on an American football field. E.nor.mous.
The original article is in Chinese, so I have no idea what it says, but I'm guessing this woman is either disgustingly rich, or won the dress in some kind of contest. Seeing as the train bearers are all wearing jeans and sneakers, I'm guessing it's the latter.
Either way, the gown is certainly impressive.

WELL MY MOTHERS GOWN DIDNT HAVE A TRAIN THAT LONG, BUT CERTAINLY IT WAS BEAUTIFUL JUST THE SAME.. AND SHE WORE IT FOR HER RENEWING OF HER VOWS SOME 15 YRS INTO HER MARRIAGE TO MY FATHER WHO ADOPTED 9 OF US.. THATS RIGHT MY MOTHER HAD 9 CHILDREN FROM A PREVIOUS MARRIAGE.. THIS INCREDIBLE MAN MARRIED HER IN 1967 AND THEY RENEWED THEIR VOWS IN 1982.. AND SHE MADE HER OWN DRESS WHICH ICLUDED OVER 5,000 HAND BEADED PEARLS, AND NOT ONLY DID SHE MAKE THAT SHE MADE HER SHOES HER BAG HER VEIL AND EVERY ONE OF HER BRIDESMAIDS GOWNS AND HEAD WRAPS AND SHE MADE HER OWN BOUQUET OF CROTCHED ROSES, AND ALL OF THE BRIDESMAIDS BOUQUETS,, AND TO TOP IT OFF SHE MADE MATCHING CENTER PIECES IN ALL THE RAINBOW COLORS SHE USED.. AND NO THEY WERE NOT RICH AT ALL.. TALK ABOUT NEWS WORTHY EVENTS THAT NEVER EVEN GET RECOGNITION.. AND TO TOP IT OFF.. YES THERE IS MORE.. MY MOTHER GOD REST HER SOUL PASSED AWAY LAST YR IN 2006, MY FATHER HAD PASSED AWAY IN 1999.. MY MOTHER WAS LAID TO REST BESIDE HER HUSBAND ON THEIR ANNIVERSARY WHICH WOULD WAS 1 YR SHY OF BEING THEIR 40TH ANNIVERSARY... WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS BEING NEWS WORTHY!!!!!!

Looks cartoonish, like someone just tacked a long rectangular piece of fabric to the back of a normal dress. I would think most people didn't even notice the bride much less her husband, just a heck long thing dragging behind her. Who cares, its just a publicity stunt, and not a very good one either.

I'm curious about the wedding venue, inside a church, was the train wrapped around the aisle? And how was the train attached? Velcro? Duct Tape? Super Snaps? Dry wall screws? (just kidding)

Why does the train needs to be so long. What about comfort? Show-off. What's next? a 200 ft train. Some people are weird.

The wearing of white started in England and was a sign of wealth as white fabric cost more than colored.

Mickey: As someone else has already pointed out, you don't know what you're talking about. White does NOT stand for virginity or purity. That's a dumb Western urban legend. To Camille Toe, my grandmother was born in 1908 when she was married it was in white with a veil over her face. As she was told by her mother and grandmother a virgin wore a white gown with a veil over her face on her wedding day. If you were not a virgin you could were white but could not wear a veil over your face. Second person to confirm the story is my mother in law who is 88 yrs old. She also is a catholic and this was what she wore and was told by her grandmother and Aunts as her mother died giving birth to her. My mother in law is also german as was my grandmother, maybe you should talk to older persons that were around before you were thought of.

maryann - If people would pronounce the word correctly, they probably wouldn't misspell it. It is said with a short i, as in rid, not a long e, as in see. But I'm not being picky =).

This is so silly. My husband and I did our whole wedding for around $300.00 and my dress was a McCalls pattern wedding dress. Just goes to show money isn't everything. And yes we are still together he still makes my laugh to the point the I either get the hiccups or need to change my depends. Thirty years and counting.

My mom and I made my wedding dress for $9 and this year will be my 35th Anniversary. The $13k could have gone toward a down payment on a house. What a shame.
